Can anyone tell me does the marines leaving Iraq and afghanistan go to Germany for debriefing and does 3 days to a week seem excessive for debriefing a recom sniper deployed for 18 months?

Also is it true that if you have already been once and been thru this. Your Debriefing may be less the secong time coming home. I am under the impression that when my fiance gets sent home he is going to be in debriefing for a period. And that when he gets to US soil I will get to meet him and leave together he also is not returning with his unit.

IF YOUR OTHER QUESTION POSTED AROUND THE SAME TIME AS THIS ONE REFERS TO THE SAME MARINE, YOU NEED MORE SUPPORT THAN HE ALONE IS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU. SOUNDS LIKE HE NEEDS TO HAVE SERIOUS WORK (SUICIDE WATCH) AND ARE YOU GOING TO BE ABLE TO HOLD YOUR OWN NEEDS AND WORRIES TOGETHER ENOUGH TO GIVE THAT SUPPORT?

FAMILY SUPPORT CENTERS THROUGH THE NATIONAL GUARD UNIT IN YOUR TOWN OR ON YOUR BASE!!!!

YOU BOTH ARE IN MY PRAYERS.

I HOPE THAT HE DOES NOT ALLOW THEM TO DISCHARGE HIM ON SOME TRUMPED UP PSYCHOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS IN ORDER TO GET HOME FASTER. AT THIS POINT A WEEK MAY SEEM EXCESSIVE, BUT WHEN YOU THINK THAT THE AVERAGE LIFE SPAN IS OVER 70 YEARS THESE DAYS, THE REST OF YOUR LIFE IS REALLY A LONG TIME. WHEN A GUY WANTS TO COME HOME TO HIS LADY IT TAKES A LOT OF INTEGRITY AND PLAIN GUTS TO ACKNOWLEDGE I'M HAVING PROBLEMS AND THEY ARE THE RESULT OF MY MILITARY SERVICE.

Debriefing can vary greatly from deployment to deployment. 3 days to a week is not excessive at all. It is important and necessary for your Marine to be debriefed. When he returns, just be happy he is home, and know the debriefing is not done to delay his return but to help him readjust.

Debriefing is done in hundreds of areas around the world.

Debriefing ranges from a few hours to months, depending on the activities that were involved, and how much of these activities are allowed to be revealed to the people in the new area you are going.

Did my debriefing while I was still in country because of the nature of my job. Took a week and then I came home where I spent 48 hours on base going through "re-entry" training to help me adjust back into society. Recon bubbas might take a little longer because of the inherent stress associated with their job.
