......as he was led to be crucified?
How could such hard hearted men not understand that THIS was God come down to man.
"Even as He hung in torment and terrible suffering, they mocked, him and spat on Him. Most hated him vehemently."
"...falsely accused and condemned, beaten, scourged, mocked and humiliated."
"They mocked and reviled Jesus, spit in His face, then blindfolded Him and beat Him asking Him to prophesy who had hit Him (Mark 14:65; Luke 22:63-65)."
Do people STILL commit these same despicable acts today?
I see mocking questions like this all the time from people that seem to hate Him:
"If I hear voices am I a prophet too?"
"Why would God intelligently design a place that you would need to be saved from?"
"Jesus said you can beat women with a rod till they are unconsious ?"
"Did JESUS CHRIST have a GAY relationship with Apostle JOHN?"
"Jesus was a sinner?"
I suppose "they" don't know what they're doing.

Yes, it was terrible. But the mockery and scorn came from two distinct groups, as illustrated by the questions you cite among the current mockers.
One group, the Roman soldiers who tortured Jesus to death, had no idea who he was and no particular animosity toward him. As far as they knew, he was another zealot aiming to kill them. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
The first two questions may come from such people. "If I hear voices am I a prophet too?" and "Why would God intelligently design a place that you would need to be saved from?" indicate a possibly serious inquiry.
The several answerers who claim that Jesus never existed or wasn't crucified are into serious denial. Jesus' life and death are among the best attested facts in the ancient world. We even date time from the birth of Christ. Denying the reality of Jesus is like denying the Holocaust or the moon landing.
The last three "questions" are taunts. They arise out of hard, embittered hearts, and they do not merit response.
Jesus made a telling comment at his interview with Pontius Pilate (John 19): "Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."
Those who know the facts are guilty of the greater sin.
Cheers,
Bruce

I sometimes cannot even read those parts about how they treated Jesus, I get so sad and angry at the same time. As for what others have said about the Lord, I have been shocked and cannot believe people would say the vile things they do , whether they believe in Him or not, why can't they leave the twisted, sick comments to themselves? I know everyone does not believe in God, I do not hate those who do not, but I do hate what some of them say, really sad.

All they demonstrate to the world by what they do in this way is the sad, pathetic, tragic extent to which they profoundly hate THEMSELVES. But nobody will admit to the world they hate themselves, so they pick a convenient target, usually in such a brave way to make sure that it's somebody they know won't give them a taste of their own medicine, so it's safe. Cowards many times over, but especially for not having the balls or ovaries to admit to themselves how despicably unhuman they truly choose to act.

Jesus wasn't the only person who was mocked and bullied. Why are you obssessed with one man?
"If I hear voices am I a prophet too?"
"Why would God intelligently design a place that you would need to be saved from?"
"Jesus said you can beat women with a rod till they are unconsious ?"
"Did JESUS CHRIST have a GAY relationship with Apostle JOHN?"
"Jesus was a sinner?"
These appear to be legitimate questions, what is your beef?

The bible clearly states on Judgment Day, all who mock God will be mocked and laughed at by God himself.
I really wouldn't want to be in their shoes.
To answer your question, He really does love us to go through that. He didn't have to.
Praise God.

Yes, it's terrible. But remember the love Jesus has for all people, including those that mocked Him. Then reach out to them in His name.

I'm just a tad more concerned with the people who claim to have faith in their jesus, who use that faith to mock, hate, be bigoted towards any others who do not agree with their dogma. Or-even if they do believe with some of it, are still hated because of their sexuality, intelligence, or other random "sin."
