No. Although those Sudanes people are acting stupidly, in many ways religion can protect us from stupidity.

A 2006 UN University study reported that 85% of the world's wealth is owned by 10% of the world's population and 50% of the world's population own 1% of the world's wealth.

Why don't the 10% share? Because they crave pleasure too much. They want a fleet of cars, and a yacht and a jet and a mansion and a holiday villa, and a load of servants etc. etc.

With billions suffering from malnutrition, a lack of clean water, preventable disease, poor education facilities etc. it is a real shame the richest 10% aren't intelligent enough to have adopted the Christian/Buddhist ideals of charity and non-attachment to wealth.

"it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go into the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 19:24, Mark 10:235, Luke 18:25

"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." Luke 16:13

Getting rid of religion will not get rid of the bizarre and the worrying behavior.

If the US had a secular president right now instead of a right wing religious nut, we'd probably be putting political pressure on Sudan right about now.

Yes, I read that story on Richard Dawkin's web site. It would embarrass most people to act that way, but " belief " allows too many byes.

hey countess, you were a child once werent you, little children dont have that much of a developed mind to think things on their own...insisting them to do something will cause them to react in any way they can come up with..its not their fault, now zip up all ready and mind your own businesses..!

don't throw out the baby with the bath water.

Unfortunately, I fear a radical Muslim will feel duty-bound to murder the "infidel" that "desecrated" Muhammed's name.
