You can of course get put on to your fathers insurance alternatively their is a company called click the pepper who offer insurance solely for the learner driver. This works as a separate policy to your father in essence being your own insurance policy at a fully comp level therefor also protecting the car owners no claims bonus should the worse happen. On top of that it's not a yearly term but can be done on a weekly basis with the initial policy being for 28 days at a cost of £72.50 then £52.50 for the next twenty eight days or £15.00 for seven days thereafter providing no claims are made. The policy can be renewed for as many weeks or months as required until you pass your test.

Also the longer you use the company the more of a discount you can build up, the other bonus of course being the added expense your dad would end up with on his own policy.

Yes. Presumably your dad is already insured on this car so all that you have to do is get him to contact his insurance company and ask them to add you on as an additional driver. There will be an additional premium to pay and generally you will only be included as third party cover but its worth it in the long run. It would have to be your dad that contacts the insurance company if the car is insured in his name as it is his policy that will be adjusted. If you are planning on practicing in his car then legally you must be insured on it. Generally it is done on a yearly basis (although the payments can be made either monthly or yearly) but if you pass your test in this time then you just have to recontact the company and adjust the policy accordingly. Good luck!!

You need to have your dad go to the insurace place that he has for the family and add you on. It costs more per person but at least you will be on the insurace plan and be able to drive his car with his permission. Every time the bill comes in you and or your dad will pay for the insurance. You will be on your dads insurance for as long as he wants you to be. If you need to switch just make the changes.

Just phone the insurance company and let them know you are a learner, then once you have passed your test you let them know again, Good luck with the price, they do like to bolt these young new drivers.

1. You must have a valid DL to get insurance. 2. Most insurance companies will allow you to pay monthly, however, if your dad pays annually, you will have to comply with these terms. Perhaps you could pay him monthly?

Your father can get you put onto his insurance as a named driver, it can be for as long as required - however there may be a charge for removing your details if it is changed before his next renewal.
