People in the 21st Century should just say *Oh well I don't really like this passage but I like this one so I will do this one and I will still be a follower of GOD's truth, but since Man wrote the Bible maybe I
should just forget the entire bible and just do my own thing as long as I don't hurt anyone else and obey society's laws.

But maybe I should say I'm a Christian and change scripture around to suit my lifestyle wants and needs because it needs a new Hip Slick and Groovy 2007 edition for me?

Get real people We are all Sinners in GOD's eyes GOD does not have to serve you, *YOU* need to serve GOD and if you don't want to then that's fine, take your act and hit the road, yes that sounds harsh but should christians just sit back like mousey pincushions, while people are trying to change the Holy Bible the one that millions are trying to live by?

If you don't like what is written in the Bible fine that is your GOD given free will right, but who has the right to change it?

So, you are a supporter of slavery:

Leviticus 25:44-46
Exodus 21:2-6
Exodus 21:7-11 This also says you are allowed multiple wives.
Ephesians 6:5
1 Timothy 6:1-2

Disobedient children should be stoned to death:
Exodus 21:1
Proverbs 20:20
Leviticus 20:9

As should non-believers:
Exodus 22:19
2 Chronicles 15:12-13

And, this Sunday (or possibly Saturday) you need to go to the mall and kill everyone working in the shops:
Exodus 31:12-15

(And all the people who drove there, or picked up more than two sticks in their yard, or did any form of work.)

Or could it be that you decide to ignore these bits?

So you're saying you follow everything that's in the bible?

And how about these passages?

1 Timothy 2:11-14 "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."

1 Corinthians 14:34 "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."

Deuteronomy 25:11-12 "And in case men struggle together (in a fight) with one another, and the wife of the one has come near to deliver her husband out of the striking one (to save her husband), and she has thrust out her hand and grabbed hold of his private (the other man's groin), she must then get both her hands cut off, and the eyes of the men must feel no sorrow."

Leviticus 12:2-5, if a woman gives birth to a baby boy, then she becomes unclean for 7 days. But if she gives birth to a baby girl, then she becomes unclean for 14 days.

Do you follow these passages as well? Or do you pick and choose yourself what to follow or not?

Yeah, everyone should follow these passages:
1 Corinthians 7:4
For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does.

1 Corinthians 14:33-35
As in all the churches of the saints, women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate, as the law also says. If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.
Leviticus 21:9
When the daughter of a priest profanes herself through prostitution: she profanes her father; she shall be burned to death.
Genesis 6:5-7
The Lord saw the wickedness of humankind was great on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that he had made humankind on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, “I will blot out from the earth the human beings I have created - for I am sorry that I have made them.”

Exodus 20:5
For I, the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the inequities of their parents.

Deuteronomy 4:21
For the Lord your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

ETC.........

If you don't pick and choose then you should be silent, woman.

Out of curiosity, are proverbs and Deuteronomy right when they say humans will be rewardeda nd punished on earth in this life for their good or bad behavior or are Ecclesiastes and Job rigt when they say that's not true?

More importantly, which do you naturally pick and choose and why? Could it be because it fits your pre-existing notions of what God ought to be like?

Everyone does. The Bible is written in such a way you can easily take to to say about anything you want. That is why the church is so divided.

if the bible contradict itself then clearly a christian has to look to some kind of authority to decide which is the true way.

you don't sound like authority to me.

you sound like a cross little girl.

Right. Very well stated. I have many friends who claim to be Christians and turn around and curse, have sex, drink, all that jazz, and expect that they are an exception and will still get into heaven. They need to wake up and smell the coffee

Welcome to reality: people have ALWAYS done this.

See the Council of Nicea, etc...

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you read the Bible in Aramaic, Greek and Hebrew? Or have you never studied what you believe to be your God's words in their actual text?
