It is better to leave buckle collars with ID tags on a dog at all times. Yes, they are currently in the house, but what happens if someone leaves the door open, or they get scared and run out - they need to keep some form of identification on them at all times.
Training collars, on the other hand, like the chain slip collars, should never be left on a dog without supervision.

It depends on what type of collar my dog is currently wearing. If it is a buckle type collar then I leave it on. If it is martingale type collar then it comes off. I like for my dogs to always have a collar with tags on them at all time in case they get out. This way if somebody finds them hopefully they will call me to let me know. I also have them micro chipped. Remember for all of your collar needs go to www.luckyfiona.etsy.com

Why would you have to take their collars off in the house?
I wouldn't do that, if the dog ever got out accidentally and had no collar or tags on, would hinder getting him back unless the person who found him take him to a vet to have his microchip read - if he has one.
Safer to leave the tag and collar on at all times.

I leave my dogs collar on all the time. She is microchipped, but I like the extra security of her wearing a name tag in case she ever gets out.
But, her collar is very loose, so if it got caught on something it would slip straight over her head. She is walked on a harness so the collar is only for id.

I always leave the collars off at home. Too much risk of accidents.
I've heard of too many cases of dogs getting their collars caught on things, or dogs getting their jaws stuck in each other's collars while playing.

i always keep my collar on my dog, well all my animals if they have collars on they stay on cuz they have there tags on them also, you know just in case they run away for some reason, my dog doesnt mind and it doesnt get caught on anything...i think most dogs should always have there collars on, no matter if there in the house or not.

I always leave mine on because if someone escapes or gets out by accident, the identification is there. I also use 2nd collars for walking so that if there is a pull-out during training the i.d. collar is still on. We have rescues and mostly huskies so this is a big issue since they have no homing instinct and long distance running abilities.

The only time I take it off is to bathe or brush him. I want his collar on with his ID tags at all times in case he gets a wild hair and decides to bolt out the door or manages to get the gate open in the yard. He's never tried to but I'm cautious. He's a fixture on the couch and doesn't get rambunctious so I'm not too concerned about choking.

I always leave my dogs collars on, for saftey reasons. They are microchipped but if something were to happen to us or our house (say a break in), and they got out I would want someone to be able to see who the belong to instead of taking them to the pound.

I have never had a problem with my dog's collar or harness and they both stay on 24/7.
