I'm sorry but if you've had any exposure to 'Living Buddha, Living Christ' then you would understand where Thich Nhat Hahn was coming from. How many of you have read this book as a Christian or non-Christian and have really admired the man who wrote this book? I know that the person I'm referencing knows that I'm talking about them but I don't call people out so please explain why you devalue this monk's words when he is trying to unite people? All thoughts welcome. Many blessings
Buddhist/fomer Catholic who had many wounds healed by this monk's offering of Catholicism in particular.

I do not need links or Catechism as a took this as I took this as a major in college so please give me your opinion without referencing material. Catholic and Christian and Buddhist alike.

Someone referenced in this monk in a recent 'Is Buddhism compatible with Catholicism post' and I felt very disheartened by the biased referenced.

solarius: it's a member of this board who is attacking Thich Nhat Hanh and referencing this book. I have met many priests who embrace Buddhism so it's to my great surprise that this person sought to a link to a site denouncing Hanh: go to my questions and about one or two down you'll get the question I'm talking about.

Thich Nhat Hahn has been great influence to me to understand the deeper meanings of Buddhism and its way learning the spirituality.

His works is such that those who are in pain and misery are absolved from them and lead the peaceful life.
Hence it may seem that he is 'Trying' to unite Buddhists and Christians,

As you see that whole world is full of many other religious humans different from Christianity and Buddhism. Yet there can be peaceful coexistence possible when the Instinct to fight, hate, kill , exploit, suppress fellow humans , which is manifest more prominently in modern age, is Transformed and replaced by non violence, love, respect for life. This is possible with the help of teachings of Thich Nhat Hahn. Your Love for him sees that He is Trying to Unite ...
If the forces tha DisUnite humans are not allowed to spread and sprout , then, this whole world can be lived in peace, love and harmony.

I'm a Catholic, and am aware (as you most likely are, too) of the Jesuit priest, Father James E. Kennedy, who is also a Zen master, and the growing trend toward Buddhist studies among both Catholic clergy and laymen. It's not as if it's a new thing. This has been going on for years. Which Catholic, specifically, is attacking Thich Nhat Hanh? I haven't heard of this, and even if I had, would simply write it off. There are too many Catholic clergy out there who are conversant with (and extremely tolerant of) Buddhist thought to let one detractor's commentary mean very much.

I respect Thich Nhat Hahn before I read his book, but it is indeed a great book and I highly recommend it.

I'm sure the person whom was doing the 'attacking' that they were 'sticking up' for their religion. I don't really know what to write. But I suppose hate will always exist.
Let's give this person the benefit of doubt, things that are unknown or not entirely understood can seem scary.

A question great like you. I'v read the book proving how much we are interconnected. I am afraid i've met may be two or three Christians in my life with respect to this amasing philosophy.

I think he is a great teacher. His writing has helped me get over some rough spots. In the end, we can't worry about the opinions of others.

It's a great book, but Christians won't give him any credit. They'll think he's riding Jesus's coattails.
