Some versions render the verse in Romans 8:15
For you have not received a spirit of slavery bringing you into fear again, but you have received a spirit of sonship in which we cry Abba Father" ( Recovery Version Bible)

Others render " sonship" as " adoption"

These words may seem like one and the same but they are not. Sonship carries with it the essence of being the same in Life. Carrying the same genes.
An adopted child does not have the life of a Father nor the genes of that Father.

Our spirit, which was created to match God, Who is spirit is the part of us that has been regenerated with the very Divine Life of God. Is this adoption?
Do adopted children become heirs?
I am not asking this based on the human concept. We see in the word that we are Born of the Spirit. Is this adoption? We see also that we are made partakers of the Divine Nature. This sonship has with it the life, position, living, enjoyment, birthright ,inheritance and manifestation of a son.

I have noticed other versions of the bible with the word ' sonship" rather than adoption. But my burden here and question is not on the Legalities but more so on the Life aspect. Do we see as believers that upon our regeneration we received another life. We were born of the Divine Life of God in our spirit. This is not adoption. There was a life birthing and this life grows and develops. Adoption does not give you that. We have received this Divine Life which has the divine capacity to inwardly metabolically organically transform us inwardly to be the same as Christ in life nad nature. We are being conformed to the same image. The base to do this is not an outward kind of adoption but by an actual life being birthed. This spirit that we have is a son of God. It has been regenerated with the Life of God.IN John we see that that which is begotten of God does not sin. Its our spirit that is this pure part of our being where satan cannot tamper with. I just wanted to dig deeper by thisQ

Does adoption give you the LIFE of the Father? This is the point of my question. An adopted child carried the life of their birth parent not the adopted parent. God went through so much through the death of Christ to impart His life to us. Christ died in the status of the Grain of Wheat in order to release the Divine Life into our spirits upon regeneration. This is my burden in asking this question. I am again..NOT asking this in the natural human mentality or concept.
Ty so much everyone for ur responses so far.
Your sister in life.

I like the concept of being grafted into the Tree of David, that's right I am part of the lineage of Abraham, Jocab and Jesus. Before I was Blue316, but on accepting Jesus I became Blue316 Son of God...Everytime the Father looks at me He sees Jesus...The Holy Spirit speaks to the Father in a language I would never understand and Jesus is beside the Father and He defends me...What a family I am born into...when I became a new creation by the Blood of Jesus...my Lord and savior..thank you, see you in heaven, all my brothers and sisters.

I wanted to answer this question because I think it is a good one I know it has been posted awhile now, but I wanted to bring this out I don't know if anyone has yet. Our pastor preached on this subject and when he has a message he researches all aspects of a matter. He said that once a person has been adopted they can never be disowned. However a natural child can be. It brought a whole new spin on what I thought about adoption. God will never disown us, Praise His Holy Name.

Does " adoption" carry the same weight as being " Born of"?

It does with eastern mentalities. We of the western world have not revered adoption as we possibly should. God has indeed looked on adoption as a means to seek and save not only His chosen, the Jews, but, we gentiles as well. In Galatians 3:29 He goes as far as to say... And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's (((offspring,))) heirs according to promise..... This word offspring is translated from the Greek word "sperma" which means God is able to cause "adoption" to carry the same weight as, "born of."

Adoption was an act frequent among the ancient Hebrews, Greeks, and Romans; by which a person was taken out of one family and incorporated with another. Persons of property, who had no children of their own, adopted those of another family. The child thus adopted ceased to belong to his own family, and was in every respect bound to the person who had adopted him, as if he were his own child; and in consequence of the death of his adopting father he possessed his estates. If a person after he had adopted a child happened to have children of his own, then the estate was equally divided between the adopted and real children.

The biblical language is designed to show that humans who trust in Christ are miraculously brought into the family of God. It is a supernatural event. We cannot bring it about ourselves. As in John 1:12, 'But as many as received him [Christ], to them he gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.'

The term 'adoption' is also biblical. It refers to a legal transaction. In Roman times anyone adopted by a Roman citizen became equally an heir, a son/daughter, as the natural born children. Furthermore, it was impossible to thereafter cast the adopted child out. Put both those things together and you begin to get a grasp of the awesome miracle of God accepting us into his family. It is astonishing. As in Romans ch 8, we can cry, 'Abba, Father!' we who were once far off and alienated! All heavens resources are at the disposal of God's children. We are children of the King! Hallelujah!

YES ADOPTED CHILDREN BECOME HEIRS!!!!!!!!!!!! From an earthly standpoint- I am adopted and I am the sole heir of my adopted parents-same as if I had been born to them- and the same goes for my 2 adopted children- they are as much mine as if I had borne them myself- and actually adopted children seem more wanted, because the parents actually sought them out, because they wanted children so badly.
With God , He created us, but we are not His children, until we accept Christ- And many places in the Bible it says we were adopted into His Family. He wanted us so badly He died for us.
I know you were talking about our adoptions as sons and daughters of the living God, but comments like yours, make adoption in the world seem not good, and that may be why more women are choosing abortion over adoption. Please be careful what you say- you are a child of the most high God, and you and I should both be praising God that HE chose to adopt us , through His Son's precious blood

Being Adopted myself i`ve been just as much a part of my family as any natural born sibling,it has nothing to do what a Bible verse says.People don`t usually adopt kids so they can turn around and not pass on family inheritances. When your adopted you are no different!

as a human point of view, i ahve never wanted to have my own kids but to adopt. I rationalize this world is hell why should i bring another human being into it? if a human being is already in it, why not love that person instead?

everyone is Born of the Spirit, if you adopt someone it's because you want to love that person as if he/she was your own. you dont need biological ties to see that someone loves you.

The words shouldnt matter, because no matter who your mother or father is, we all come fromt he same FATHER. we are all the children of God.

Well, this may not be what you are looking for...but, I like the idea that I am His child by adoption. He looked around and CHOSE me. I am not His because just everybody is His...I am His because He wanted me to be His. That makes me feel more special. He searched for me, He found me, He drew me to Him, and now I belong to Him.

Not according to Paul. All the false spirits in the world tell otherwise.

No. The adoption in question pertains to the House of Israyl being brought back into covenant relationship, as they had been "PUT AWAY", becoming 'not a people'. This is the 'gentiles' Paul speaks of in Romans 9:24-26 IF you would but look up the reference he made concerning these 'gentiles' when he points to HOSEA 1:10-11.
This adoption can apparently be rescended according to him, personnally I don't see how, but he seem to say so at least in the translations I have:
Rom 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Rom 11:19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, [take heed] lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if {{HUGH IF THERE WHICH IS IGNORED BY MANY}} thou continue in [his] goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Rom 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
Rom 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural [branches], be graffed into their own olive tree?

The OLIVE tree is symbol of ISRAYL as a whole, BOTH HOUSES. House of Israyl was put away becoming 'not a people'. No longer part of the original tree, BUT TAKE NOTE they are still an OLIVE tree, just wild. NO OTHER PEOPLE IN THE WORLD are ever termed Olive tree but Israylites.

In other words, as the House of Judah is STILL in rejection of the Messiah to some degree, the House of Israyl is still not to dispise them and perceive themselves as better.

The MATTER Paul is speaking of is CLEARLY placed on GENETICS in Rom. 9:3-5, not some type of spiritual awakening. The Spiritual awakening is limited by him to a remnant within a particular genetic stock. He clearly excludes non-Israyl from the adoption, covenants, promises and etc. Goes on to say ALL of Abraham's genetic children are EXCLUDED except Issac. Then tells us it only goes to Jacob and specifically and dramatically explains why ESAU is excluded and ends up explaining why it is only a remnant of the Israylites that are going to manifest this spiritual awakening and be the true Israyl of Yahweh. It is about Yahweh's order, not hatred of the others (thought it is compaired to be such with Esau). It is simply His plan for bringing the disorder to order.

If the manifestation comes forth and continues in the House of Israyl adopted son, the wild olive graff sticks, they have the same package deal as any other son, or non-wild olive tree. Notice again, they are the Israyl of Yahweh.

This seems foriegn to the the "BODY" or even the "HOUSE" analogies of believers. But the distinction of the "BODY" and the "BRIDE" could straighten one out. The distinction of the "HOUSE" and the "Tabernacle" would straighten out the other.

Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel [is] my son, [even] my firstborn:
Exo 4:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, [even] thy firstborn.
Deu_14:1; Jer_31:9, Jer_31:20
Hos 11:1 When Israel [was] a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

BUT, House of Israyl, (NOT House of Judah), was PUT AWAY and made "NOT A PEOPLE", therefore they need the sonship again. They had been disowned in so many words by Yahweh. This is who the "OTHER FLOCK" Yahshua mentions are. Israyl is the ONLY people termed 'sheep' in Scriptures. Don't waste your time thinking it is not genetic/racial in nature. Paul says "MY KINSMEN (Blood Relative) according to the FLESH"

Hos 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye [are] not my people, [there] it shall be said unto them, [Ye are] the sons of the living God.
Hos 1:11 Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great [shall be] the day of Jezreel.

That has got to be one of the best questions I have found since coming on this site, and though you probably will not agree, even if you read these comments, I would like to thank you for it. My chest literally quivers with joy at such investigative questions.
