He'd rather starve than eat dog food. The only thing he'll eat is cheese. I know cheese is bad for dogs but there's nothing else he'll eat.

How old is he and how long has he been doing this? If he is a older dog and he just started this you need to get him to a vet to make sure that his teeth are not bad. A lot of problems come along with bad teeth. A dog with bad teeth will usually still eat human food cause they love it plus it's not hard so they can chew it better. If your dog is young and you are just having a hard time getting him to eat it then i would do what a lot of people on here suggested. Mixing it with soft or out wait him... Personally i would try a different kind of dog food. My Buddy did that and we switched his food. We found out that we had to buy dog food with chicken cause that is what he liked. Maybe that is what is wrong with your dog.

Try a differant dog food, but it is also good to stick to one kind. You can also put a treat under all the kibble so your dog can eat his way down. You can also mix it with meat or something. You can ask a vet or an assitant at the place you got him from. But don't feed him cheese, it's bad for the dog's nose.

If he doesn't eat it within half an hour take it away. Try again later on. If he is hungry enough he will eat ut. If he has been fed what you eat he will hold out as long as possible as he knows sooner or later you will give in and give him some of yours.

If he eats dry food you can buy gravy from the pet shop and it comes in different flavours. You should try different kinds of food. Bakers is quite good as it has soft pieces in it.

Take him to the vet and make sure that he is healthy and has no problems with his teeth

Good luck

I know others may object but I'm all about trickery. I buy the Iams gravy that comes in a bottle, low sodium broth, and lean canned dog food to mix in with the dry. (In your case you can use a handful of shredded cheese in his dry food and slowly taper it off.) Just a spoon full, enough to make it smell good and I rotate what I give him to keep it interesting. He won't starve himself but he'll try to hold out til he gets what he wants. Keep that cheese out of sight!

When he gets hungry he will eat what you provide him. Stop the items that are not good for him. He needs meat and a good selections of veggies, grains and supplements. You can give him that in dog food or cook it yourself.

No treats until he learns to eat. You might even try a new location. One of our dogs will not eat in the kitchen. He wants to eat in my son's room because my son always go to his room for meals.
We were worried and couldn't figure out why he was so picky about his food, until we realized it was the place not the food.

A dog will not starve themselves if food is available. Give him a few days of nothing but dog food. He may go for a day or two, but then his instincts will kick in and he will eat what he has available.

Have you tried different varieties or flavors - it may just be that he will take quicker to one flavor than another.

Stop feeding him cheese. Consider changing dog foods. I'd go with a Raw diet.

dog's aren't that complicated. put the dog food out and don't give him any people food. if you keep giving him people food then it's your fault. when he gets hungry he'll eat the dog food.

Don't give him any table scraps, and just limit it to dog food. If he won't eat dry, you could add some canned food.
