I just got back from Iraq. Yes I was actually there, although, many people who watch the news and formulate opinions about this topic must know much more then I do. This war is necessary and was not started on false pretences. The american people watch tv and adopt opinions based on what they are told.
Imagine this: You are a father and you know your son has marijuana in his room. You tell your son to turn over the marijuana or that you are going to search his room when you get home from work and find the marijuana he is hiding. When you get home from work he refuses to let you in so you give him until the morning and that you are going to come in and find the marijuana he is hiding. He refuses again so at lunch you come home and burst through his door and to your surprise there is no marijuana in his room. You broke his door and tossed and destroyed half of his room looking for it. Your wife who should support you and your descisions all the sudden becames angry and doesn't support that you are in his room and that you did it the way you did. You know he had marijuana in his room, you tried to be as diplomatic as possible, and now the person who should support you the most is upset with you. It baffles me that america is surprised that there were no weapons of mass destruction, however, besides the point Saddam did not live up to his end of the bargain. He knew what he had to do to avoid the consequences. He knew he had weapons and he knew he was harboring and supporting terrorist and has been for more years then President Bush was in office. Saddam and the dictatorship goverment of Iraq has fallen. Yes we could have just left them after taking Saddam out of power. However, their country is filled with radical terrorist just like many other countries the US is fighting in. If we leave that country in its state of chaos it will be taken over by the terrorists. They would have a place to become stronger and more powerful. Well if that doesn't scacre the average american I don't know what would. Could you imagine Al Qaeda with their own country and hundreds of thousands of people in their control? I get shivers just thinking about it. Yea Iraq needs to stand on their own two feet. But they are trying. There are good people there that show up to work everyday even though they are putting their own lives and the lives of their family at risk. I saw Iraqi policement show up every day to their checkpoint in a war zone. America couldn't even get policemen to stick out a hurricane. I see Iraqis working diligently to provide for themselves and thier families. Thankful that they can now play soccer without fear of being executed for not winning. It is really easy to watch the news and have a bad opinion about the war. It is really easy to say the words I support our troops and don't support the war. Well I support doctors but I don't support modern medicine. I support scientists but I think what they are doing is ridiculous. It is an oxymoron to say that you support someone but you don't support what they are doing. Soldier's don't have to fight, it is easy to get out of going to Iraq, but you don't see very many people standing up and saying they refuse to go.
I have a challenge for people. If you disagree with the war and your only source is the television, I challenge you to look up 3 military or pro war websites. So often we just repeat the words brainwashed into ours by the folks who sit behind a news desk and read a teleprompter that we forget there may more behind the story that they may not be telling you. I put some sources below to even save some time.

Lol...I bet Flav A is one of those people who know next to nothing about why we are there, he just is on the "F*** Bush" bandwagon...
But, to post on topic...I do not support this war. I support our troops, hell yeah, but I do not support this war. I feel we have accomplished very little of our original intent in going there, and now with the current state of things, we are backed into a corner. I also believe that we should not be trying to impose our government system, no matter how well it works, on another country.
Don't get me wrong; Saddam was an evil tyrant, and I am glad that we've removed him and prevented him from ever regaining power, and bin Laden is now is now in hiding, though that doesn't help us as much as one might think when he is hiding in his own territory. It's just...terrorism will always be. It is a sad truth.
Back in 2001, watching that heart-wrenching news footage, the national mourning...I was all for war, to show those jackasses they ****** with the wrong country, because it brought tears to my eyes, to see what those cowards had done in the name of WHATEVER...but that was in insanely intense bout of patriotism that I believe the entire nation felt in the wake of that crisis...
Nonetheless, I love all our troops and they deserve nothing but the utmost honour and respect for defending our country.

I know quite a bit of the history, but that is largely irrelevant to the fact that the war and subsequent occupation of Iraq was and is unconstitutional and therefore wrong. Article II, Sec. 8 gives Congress the authority to declare war, not the authority to give the President the power to declare war. All aspects of the prosecution of war, from funding, to a draft, to asking our finest to make the supreme sacrifice, follow from a declaration of war by the proper method. Anything less is unacceptable. Congress has not declared war since 1941 and the nation is weaker and more divided because of it.

Thats easy, what I know is that I am honored to have been able to help the people of Iraq become free of persecution and oppression by an evil tyrant. I am glad that my closest friends and I have rid this world of bomb makers and terror cell leaders who had evil intensions. I am glad that we were able to provide food, water, clothing, schooling, and medical assistance to people who had not had those luxuries in centuries.
I know that I am glad my daughter will never have to grow up fearing for her life because I did my part. I know that I can go on the road without wondering what cities are safe. Whether this war was about oil, gold, power, or whatever, I could careless. We did great stuff for those people and in doing so we won their hearts. The easiest way to prevent us from future terrorist attacks is to provide those kids with an unbiased education, let them know we care, and protect them from persecution. Unfortunately it cost some their lives, others their souls, but we all know that we have contributed to our national safety and we have done some amazing things for some innocent people.

LOL there isn't enough room on this board for everything or how ..... I feel sad because my husband has to go fight for the freedom of people I don't know nor care about. I feel mad because he has to leave his family behind and miss out on our children growing up. I feel depressed because I no longer get to talk to my best friend everyday but have to wait by a cellphone to see if just maybe he'll call today. I feel empty inside not knowing if my husband is alive or if I'll have someone in their dress uniform show up on my doorstep today. I feel angry because people say horrible things about the military and why we are there; no realizing that soldiers are just doing their jobs. I feel heartbroken when I have to put on a smile when I feel like crying while drying the tears of my child who misses their father.
Mostly I feel pride when I think of my husband and how he puts on his uniform with the courage and honor to fight for the freedom of our family and those I don't know nor care to know.

Everything? Many of us could write a book.
The war in Iraq was unfortunately a necessary evil. Rumsfelds initial plan was brilliant. But the initial follow up was a disaster which has led to the problems up through today.
With hindsight we understand that we should not have disbanded the Iraqi military, We also understand that we should have used many of the members of the bathist party .
But its never too late and we are on track now to finally win this thing.

I do not have the time nor the apace, and i am quite sure if we all put everything we were thinking and feeling you would be reading well into 2032, so here is where i am right now. I am in 110% support of our Military, let us not forget the silent ranks! :)
I support this war on terror, am sick of hearing it is " a war against Iraq" or "a war for oil" and so forth. I am so tired of our children hearing from our media the delusions of how we need to bring the troops home or cut funding and all the other BS. We ( our troops) are there to do a job, let them do it, understand i would love to cuddle up with Sgt tonight and wake with him in the morning, but he will be home when he is suppose to be and our troops will be home when the job is done. the one who keep bi*c*inG "WE" NEED TO COME HOME ARE HERE SAFE USING THE RIGHTS OUR MILITARY HAVE FOUGHT FOR FOR YEARS, IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT THEY ARE DOING, DONT USE THE RIGHTS THEY FOUGHT FOR, GET THE HELL AWAY FROM YOUR KEYBOARD, IF YOU DONT WANT TO STAND BEHIND THEM, PLEASE, GO STAND IN FRONT OF THEM. instead of spending a dollar for a ribbon for your car, spend the 75 cent it would cost for the paper, ink, stamp, and 5 minutes to write a thank you and mail it. take a few minutes to go to... http://www4.army.mil/ocpa/tooursoldiers/post.php?
type a msg to our soldiers just to say hello, thanks, im thinking of you, its free. I am Proud to be a mother and a wife of US Soldiers! I am Proud to be an American. What we are doing is right, and for God sake, please, support those who are making sure it the terrorists arent coming to our doorstep right now, they are doing a damn good job!

At first the vast majority of America wanted to go, congress said yes and we went. Times change, admenistrations change, people change but once westart a war the war will always be with us. We are still in Germany, Koria, Nam, China, you name it. We did what we though was right and now we need to stick to our guns.
