Bed bugs! Throw away that mattress, and get a new one. But, before bringing the new one in, bomb the place.

well if you have a cat or dog it could possibly be fleas but if not I would check for bed bugs

Might be chiggers. They are still around in many areas if it is reasonably warm still.
