Do you believe they are following the Koran the way they should? Do you believe that gays should be hanged and victims of incest and rape should be executed? I am not attacking; I am trying to clear something up. I hear Islam is a peaceful religion on one hand; then I never see Muslims in the West stand up for themselves and denounce those that are doing these things. The silence is almost deafening and leads alot of us to believe that you agree with them to some extent. So please, what are your thoughts on this? Thank you in advance. Please, no Muslim bashing from others; this is a serious question. Thanks!

Oh sen, If you really saw what my question meant. You can ask any Christian what they felt about abortion clinic bombings and they will denounce it. Now lets say it is happening ALL the time ALL over the world in Christian countries; You will still see Christians standing up for peace; Jesus brought peace. My question was an honest question. You dont see Muslims standing up and denouncing this stuff. Im not stating all Muslims agree; I just want to know where their voice is? It seems as if they agree if they arent saying anything. I live in a liberal large city with a large Muslim population and I have yet to see ONE demonstration from the Muslim community which says: Hey America: We think this stuff is wrong! You can sit there and be miffed that I am asking this; but you cannot say its not an honest question.

I lived in Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, & UAE at different times in my life. I’ve studies the Islamic history & did some volunteer work overthere. I assure you that Muslim countries don’t correctly apply the Koran in their laws, including the theocratic states.

Muslims today live a dark age, just like the Christian west in the past. Christians used to do evil against Christianity, Christian people, & others. Today Muslims are doing many evil things against Islam, Muslim people as well as others.

According to Karen Armstrong Islam is the most misunderstood religion. Not only I agree with her, I also believe that Muslims themselves have less understanding to their own religion.

For the most part, I do not see most Muslim-dominated countries as following any kind of shari`ah (Islamic Law). Iran comes the closest of all of them, but some of the things that I hear do cause me to have questions or concerns. I am slightly biased towards Iran, mind you, because I am a Shia Muslim.

For anyone to receive an Islamic punishment for a sin related to marriage or the breach thereof, either a confession or a very detailled testimony from four reliable witnesses would have to be procured. The witness method is nearly impossible to obtain. I have serious doubts every time I hear of someone being punished in a Muslim country for sins of morality or modesty.

As a side note, In Saudi Arabia, women are not allowed to drive. They are required to hire unrelated male chauffeurs. To punish a woman for being in a car with an unrelated male, therefore, is hypocrisy.

In order for the world at large to be aware ofa denunciation of acts of violence by Muslims, that denunciation would have to be widely publicised. This rarely happens. Denunciations are ignored on daily basis by the mainstream media. Consider also the fact that if any Muslim decided to denounce every single act of violence committed by another Muslim, even if he redtricted himself to those acts covered in the media, would do nothing but denounce all day long. The same could be said of a Christian, Jew, Hindu, or any other person who took on such a task. Our daily lives and examples are usually all of the denunciation that we can afford to take the time for. We are busy people on account of our devotion to a spiritual, family, and community life.

Good question

I do not believe that Islamic countries are using and following the Quran in the best way possible. I do not believe gays should be hanged, and victims of rape should be executed.
I believe the government should be fair. Rapists should be stoned, and murders should be hanged -- i agree with those laws. And as far as modesty goes, as long as they are covered i have no problem. But overall, I think the gov't should be secular -- like TURKEY OR MALAYSIA!!

(As far as the whole gang rape thing goes, i disagree wit the Saudi government COMPLETELY, even though she was committing infidelity, any women who gets raped should be forgiven, because rape is just... horrible)

Islam IS peaceful religion. It IS. And your right, i too haven't seen many muslims, including me, in my commnunity denouncing terrorism. Your question made me realize that we should. we should stand up. Those extremists and fundamentalists are ruining Islam's reputation. Islam doesn't preach violence. It GOES AGAINST violence.

As a muslim i myself have so many questions about some islamic rules but you know when ever i've attempted to seek that what is the phylosephy behind islamic rules i have found resonable answers...
in this case i have no comment, that doesnt mean there is no answer to your question , because im not knowledgable enough to answer ... but in fact many punishments in islam are to prevent cases which if they happen they end up with unsolvable problems for the whole society ... i mean naturally men go with women , this is the nature ? undeniable fact. they have to create a family in order to raise up children ... how can 2 men do that ? a child naturally needs to have a mother and a father ? a child needs the love and care of both genders... do you know one of the beautifull resons why muslim ladies have hejab !? because islam wants to maintain the attraction in between both gender... you know in western countries ofcourse ladies dont put on scarfs ...or islamic dress and men easily pass by them ignoring all that beauty ( compared to what we have over here )...well islam also tells men not to ogle...but for instance a lady not wearing scarf with tight dress is something regular & not really an eye-catching scene for western men ...this might be one of the consequences of ending up with people having homosexual relationships...even it might get worst and that might go so far that homosexuality would be something boring and regular & some might get involved with having realtionship with animals ... i know what i mention might seem strange but unfortunately not respecting god rules is a drawback for the human himself

Edit : islam doesnt instruct us to have love towards people which are corrupting the society , murdering people , invading lands ... if some body rapes you in front of me and i come forward and show love and respect towards him how would you feel about me !?

firstly, i dont belive i shall have to stand up and defend the actions of others that i dont think are valid, i dont see any christain standing up for another christain who commits a crime, secondly, it seems to be no, they arent following the quran (by the way, its Quran not koran), there isnt a single society on earth today that has a perfect islamic governmental system (clipah) and follows the correct shriah law, and i appreciate that unlike other non muslims, you actully belive that out of the 1.3 billion muslims, you cant expect for all of em to perfectly follow their religion

I don't think any country is following the Quran the way they should. Gays are punished only if they act upon their desire and the punishment is death. I agree with it. Victims of rape and incest are victims and should not be punished. The punishment for the rapist is death. I hope this is clear enough.

Show me where in the Quran it states these things? You never see? Maybe because you are not looking. There is no "silence" from Muslims i know maybe you should get to know a few. So Christians and catholics promote and accept homosexuality do they? Or is it just Muslims you have the objection too? In Islam it is the act of sodomy for anyone that is a sin, anyone........... My thoughts are you have a fixed, media driven attitude towards Muslims and our faith. You are free to think and believe what you like does not make it fact.

No Muslim bashing? Your doing a good job on your own.

EDIT
Don't be so patronizing i know exactly what you asked and i gave you my answer. I could provide all the links in the world you would still be deaf to it. So keep your condescension to yourself and get of your high horse, it doesn't suit you.
