When in doubt braise the meat. Get a large pot or pan that will fit into your oven. Put the pan on the stove top and turn on the fire add a little oil maybe a tablespoon. Season the meat then put it in the pan and cook it until the outside of the meat is brown. You can have large pieces or small chunks. Once browned add all the vegetable you want. I like to cook them for a few minutes then add a stock or water to the pan that comes only to about half way up the product. We're not making soup so don't add a bunch of liquid. Cover the pan with a lid or foil and place in the oven for a couple of hours.
When ready to eat just take it out and dish it up.

Ok this is a problem. What does it look like. Mystery meat. Is it beef, ground beef, a loaf, chicken, pork, fish. You need to figure out what it is exactly before you cook it. But the best thing you should do is make sure it is fully cooked at 180 degrees, by checking it with a cooking thermometer. Good luck. Good rule of thumb is, if you dont know what it is dont eat it.
Deer meat is a dark red, cow is a lighter red, think of steak, if its darker then steak its deer. If its lighter then steak its pork.
Best thing is to bake it like a roast. Make it pretty, put potatoes around it, carrots and green beans. Cook for an hour at 350. Good thing to is take a ziplock bag, put the meat in it, worshestershire sauce, n some garlic, soak in there for an hour, in the fridge. Then preheat the overn n bake.

You better let your mom cook that meat , if you don't know what kind of meat it is, chances are you will not do a good job cooking it and then there is a REAL BIG chance that you mom is going to be super mad at you and then the surprise will be on you .
So hands off the meat and do something that you know how to do, like offer your mom to do the dishes after or clean up the house, so when she comes in all she has to do, is cook and eat.

Sounds like a round steak. First salt and pepper and flour it on both sides with oil. Lightly brown it on both sides in a non stick skillet. Place the steak in an oven proof baking dish. Now in the skillet pour in a little more oil. chop about 2 onions and salute till clear. Add these to the steak. If you have a bell pepper, slice it into rings and the left over parts chop and salute also and add to steak. Mix 2 beef bullion cups to 2 cups of water until melted then add that to steak.

Cover (with foil) steak and cook on 350 degrees in oven about 1 hour and remove cover and add green bell pepper rings and cook about 1 hour longer. Watch to make sure enough water is in dish.

Serve over rice

You need to find out what meat it is, before you cook it. I think because you don't know you should just wait for the surprise and just clean the house before you ruin the dinner.

What? You never watched your mother cook? Call a butcher store and ask them.
