just go up to him and just talk ask if he like to go for a walk or get something from the store and take it from there

well, we live in modern time so it is not a problem (i think so) for girl to ask a boy out...
you can say to him that you would like to go with him on a juice (?) or in the cinema...maybe...whatever you do, if he is interested in you he will go out wit you...and if he don't...then you'll now... =)
