At this point I would say No but not as "friendly" as the recent past. Will be slip into another Cold War is really up to what happens in the Russian elections. If Putin is the puppet master behind the new leader, his personal choice wins, then we could very easiy slide back into that era.

First, Russia has not slipped back to the USSR days. All of the former Soviet Socialist Republics are now independent nations. Russia has always had concerns about any nation posing a threat to its borders and its territory. And with ample reason. Over thirty two million citizens of Russia and the USSR died in two world wars in the 20th Century against Germany. That concern is heightened by the fact that the Warsaw Pact is no more, yet NATO is still around. Not only around but getting closer to the Russian border with its recent expansion of member states. And Vladamir Putin is exploiting that reality by using an old formula: Fear+Hate=Power.

The likeliest scenario for conflict between the West and Russia involves a possible sale of Nuclear Weaponry from Russia to a terrorist organization. If that were to occur, the West would most certainly retaliate.

Following our lead, Pakistan, Russia and others are devolving into personality based dictatorships - assassinations may also be in the cards, especially regarding Pakistan, which has been having many attempts over the past decade.

"on Russia's border". . . . . . .

I think your definition of the Russian border is off by a few hundred kilometers!!

And its not N.A.T.O. doing any building, there has been no construction as of yet and it is an American System and its up to host countries like Poland and Czech Republic if they want it.

If Tsar Putin doesn't like it then thats his problem.

Peace is not compatible with imperialism. You can try to dominate the world and dictate, but as soon as it gets a chance, it fires back. Russia is totally legitimate to protect itself against the north American fascist empire. They know perfectly that when they put their own oil market in roubles, the USA will find any bullshit excuse to invade and conquer as they did in Irak. Do not expect fairness with the US, the only way they seem to respect someone is when they have missiles pointed to them.

Putin would love to have another cold war, it would give him the excuse to start the soviet union again.
