If I ask him a question, and he doesn't answer (or answers in a way he knows I won't understand), is this a lie of omission?

I asked God when my cousin's birthday was since I can't remember. No answer. He knows, doesn't he?

No one ever said that God must answer. God may and is more likely to answer questions of real meaning sought in earnest. Your question was simply frivulous. Asking for guidance in beliefs, praying God help and comfort another, praying in times of your own dispar are all likely to be Noticed by God. But even then there are no guarantees, God has His plans and you can either go along with them or resist and what God has in store will still be the result. Bad things happen to good people, good things to bad. God has different lessons to be taught each. Surrender to God's will and you will have the inner peace of salvation. Go against it anything can happen. The lottery wins people pray for? Frivulous. Praying for a person to survive an illness or injury, could work. But God has set a time for everyone. I think asking God to relieve a person's suffering a better request.
Remember, even Jesus was praying in the Garden to avoid the death ahead. And even he submitted to God's will. So that to confirms not to expect te answer you want.

There is an old saying:"If you want to hear God laughing, just tell Him your plans."

the thought of a "lie of omission" or "lie of remission" is defective. a man or woman isn't made a liar via asserting no longer something, for silence can advise many stuff. And who's above God to call for from him a solution?

That's a lot of omissions.

God is guilty of nothing. He is perfect. He knows all answers, maybe it's just not the answer we want.

If God doesn't answer you when you ask Him something, it is because of this

1. You are not listening, or perhaps you don"t want to hear.
2. He (God) knows that you are not ready to receive the answer He has for you.

Yes, of course it would be a sin of omission.

However, He does answer, and you would understand if you listened, but you obviously don't.
I have never had a prayer go unanswered.

So the point is moot.

maybe you're asking the wrong question?

(Given an opportunity to directly ask God a question that would get an oral response - I don't think I'd waste it on my cousin's birthday)

Prayer requires faith to work.
