Negrita does mean little black female in Spanish. The word ***** is spanish for black and the ending "ita" is the feminine form meaning little female. The word ***** in the context is not racist in any way, so all you yahoo answer people don't start yelling that this is a racist question.

Negrita literally means 'little black girl'. 'Negra' (could mean just the color black in general too. *****/negra), is the word for a black woman. It is not an offensive term. In fact, adding the 'ita' to the end of it can make it a more endearing term...but only if you use it with someone you know, not a stranger.

I would simply add the following: in spanish, the endings -ito and -ita literally mean "little", but they often are used to express endearment.

for example, Miguel is Michael, but Miguelito would be translated as Mike.

abuela is grandmother, but someone speaking affectionately to her grandmother might address her as abuelita.

Likewise, negrita could mean little, but as other posters have stated it is also a term of affection.

(although if all this is about bold face type, then we've over analyzed this to death! lol)

It means two very different things.

It means Little Black Girl, and it is uses very often as a nice way of addressing a woman, even if she's not black, in Southamerica.

It also means bold in typing.

It means "Little black girl", be careful using this word along with "*****" and "negra" it may be considered offensive now! (I am not saying that you meant it that way!!)
