John - Many people feel discouraged at times. The important thing is to work through it. Thinking about suicide and committing suicide are two different things. Temptation is not a sin but falling for the temptation and committing the act is.
I think the best thing for you to do is to seek counseling. If you are having these thoughts than you need to get help. There are plenty of medications and talk therapy available that can help.

No, but I would certainly hope that you do not consider that. Realize that the only way you are saved is by grace through faith alone. All you need to do is think about your sins. That is likely what is troubling you. Stress is a common thing that humans deal with, but perhaps things aren't going so well. God knows about all those things, and he wants to use those things for you to get close to Him. He wants to have a relationship with you.
He's available to believers, so simply cry out to Him. He will save you from your fears, worries, doubts, and most importantly, from Hell.
And just an FYI, do NOT listen to the first answerer who linked to Harold Camping. He has previously taught that the world would end in September of 1994. Nobody knows the day of the world's end, so for him to say for certain is blasphemous. Harold also encourages fleeing a church. I would say the exact opposite, and especially in your situation. Talk to a pastor if you need additional help, or just someone who will pray for you.

For thinking? Thoughts and emotions are natural and you won't be punished for them. Your *actions*, on the other hand, you will have to accept the responsibility and consequences for.
If you have in fact thought about suicide, please seek out some professional counseling to determine why you are having such thoughts and get the help you need to overcome them. Life ain't easy, you're not alone in that, but there is always a better answer than suicide.

The Bible says "IF you kill yourself you will go to hell". Hell is a lot more horrible than anything on Earth.
It may be hard for you to believe, but believe me. Time will change things and life may turn out as you never thought it would. You might end up Governor of a state or as a paramedic (rescuing people yourself),....

If you have taken this thought from your own religious following, it will be hard to convince you that the afterlife is not about heaven and hell (they are just Christian concepts anyway). The afterlife is about finding our own level (like cream rising to the top of the milk) in a natural process. A lot of people think about and even contemplate suicide. It is a normal part of human thinking. Acting upon it is not very beneficial to the soul and it will have to be cleared upon entering the afterlife.

It seems as if you allow what you think to have concrete outcomes, even if you haven't taken your thoughts that far. For example, thinking about having sex with someone else means you are an adulterer, even though you haven't. Thinking about murdering someone makes you a murderer, but you haven't killed. Thinking about stealing a candy bar has made you a thief, and so on.
If you are thinking about suicide you need to tell someone, trust me. It is in your own interest to do so. But please, in the meantime, do not allow any negative thoughts to dominate you. They are just thoughts. Think, but take pause in your thoughts. Take care.

No, suicide is murder, just a terrible sin against God, has nothing to do with salvation. But the question remains why would you think that way. In the world we will have trouble, Jesus said so, Even He had so much trouble that they crucified him and he was perfect. Jesus could have stopped them. He had the power, but in the end He gave his life for us so that we might live in Heaven someday with Him. First we must be Born again. John3:3. To be born again we must confess that Jesus is Lord and ask him to purge us of all our sins. His death on the Cross at Calvery washed away our sins, but we still have to confess them, admitting that we are sinners and the He is our Saviour. He loves us so much, He created heaven for us, so that we could all live in a paradise some day. But you have to choose. Have you ever ask Jesus to forgive you of all your sins? Do you believe Jesus Christ arose from the grave the third day and now sits at the right hand of the Father? If you believe the Bible is true and you believe Jesus is who he says He is then you can be saved today, just pray this sinners prayer of faith believing with all your heart and soul, just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you made a decision for Christ or have any questions, Please send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

No, you will not go to hell for thinking about it. But please don't do it! It is SSSSSSSOOOOOOO not worth it. More than likely you will be putting a perminate solution on a temporary problem. This is how I process things:
Is this going to matter in 7 seconds- YES
Is this going to matter in 7 minutes- YES
Is this going to matter in 7 Hours- most likely
Is this going to matter in 7 days- maybe
7 weeks- probably not
7 months- I doubt it
7 years- no
see!

No. I would surely think not. God is a forgiving God. Now if you commit suicide, that's another story.
