I noticed my dog wasnt acting normal the last few days and she got worse last night so I rushed her to the emergancy vet late last night. The told me she has a swollen and puss filled uterus and her cervix is closed and it is very fatel if it bursts and it was so swollen that it could burst any minute. So I rished her to her own vet and they rushed her into surgery this morning. She is 9 years old and im so worried about her right now. Has anyone gone through this and if so did your dog recover well after? I want her to feel better and not in pain so im hoping she has a fast recovery. I just need some encouragment.

I will for sure be one of those encouraging to SPAY their animals because this is the worst thing I have ever went through! Not only was my dog in pain and depressed because of her condition but now instead of paying $300 or less to spay her when I should have its not costing me $2300 and lots of pain for her and me. Please everyone SPAY and NUETER your animals, I have learned my lesson and cause my baby pain, I regret it terribly!

we rescued a gorgeous german shepherd who had this problem. Luckily for her it was just starting as an infection and as we found out two weeks after having her that she was heavily pregnant, we had to let her have the pups first and she was on a very high course of antibiotics for it and then 5 weeks after giving birth to 8 pups she went in for her emergency op. It cost us a fortune and we had to get extra jobs to pay for her treatment but she has pulled through beautifully and two years on we have a fully fit, healthy animal who we adore (kept a pup as well who is now a 42 kg dog).Just be aware that it will take a little while for her to feel well and just give her that extra bit of fuss and attention and take it steady. Hope everything goes well as I wore parts of the carpet out when ours wasn't well through pacing up and down.

Heartworm cure at present is elevated and so much puppies recuperate. The drug is Immiticide, that is so much arsenic. It is injected into the minimize again muscle mass (now not the backbone). The puppy is dealt with with a painkiller and lightweight sedative earlier than the injections in order that wiggling round does not intent disorders. The puppy remains on the vet three - five days, traditionally. The gigantic factor is that the animal needs to be stored on leisure for 5 - 6 weeks after cure. The Immiticide kills the worms however they're nonetheless within the center. They then need to holiday down over a interval of a few weeks and be removed via the frame. While this is occurring, the puppy can not do whatever strenuous in the best way of endeavor. The puppy needs to be stored interior and walked simplest on a leash. The puppy then is going on a per 30 days cure software for the leisure of its existence. A heartworm experiment is given in 6 months. The price of cure varies in unique locations. $three hundred does not sound dangerous in any respect, specially when you consider that the puppy needs to be kenneled a few days. My sister rescued a cocker spaniel that used to be dealt with for heartworms and is doing relatively pleasant now, approximately a yr later. I feel for essentially the most side, the cure at present has a top cost of sucess. Congrats for your rescue. I wish the cure is going good and that you just 2 are comfortable in combination for decades!

It's called pyometra and its a serious infection of the uterus. Spaying followed by antibiotics usually resolves it and dogs recover well if it is caught quickly. It is usually fatal if the infection is left untreated by surgery and antibiotics.

If dogs are spayed young when there is no intention of breeding them, it prevents this scary thing from ever happening.

It's Pyometra.. because she wasn't spayed. It's what happens to intact females many times.

Been through it twice, both times the girls were VERY sick (Lucy almost died). Once the pus-filled uterus was removed, recovery was very rapid.
