If we look at the principle of the " alabaster box" then Yes ..being broken is a good thing.
Its not the easiest thing for us to be brought to as believers because naturally our soul life wants to remain in tact and we do not want to have to loose it. But we need to see that our soul is like this alabaster box. It is worth while but the real value is the Nard on the inside.

How did Mary get the nard out in order to anoint the Lord? By breaking the box. The ointment was then taken and after washing the Lord's feet with her tears and drying it with the Glory of her hair in submission and love to teh Lord.. she proceeded to take this expensive nard that was worth so much to a woman like Mary, and anointed the Lord's head and feet and body with it.

Think of it brother Mark. We too are like that alabaster box with the nard. The box being our soul with the self and soul life and the Nard being the precious ointment of our spirit which is the Habitation of God's Holy Spirit.
Unless the Lord in His Soverignity takes us through different environments then we will never truly be those that release our spirits in a free way in truthfulness.

With the breakings come the grace supply to carry us through all these dealings of the Lord. Unless we take this way of being broken , then the Nard.. our spirit will be imprisoned in our being and all we express to the Lord will be our emotionalism.. our strong unbroken will and our unrenewed mind.

Sometimes our worship and our dealings with the members of Christ have never gone beyond the realm of our alabaster box. Which outwardly is so pretty and looks worth the keeping..

But we need to really be before the Lord in a geuine way.. telling Him that we are willing and open to His breakings inorder that the soul-life and the self will be put aside and we will be persons who bear the sweet smelling fagrance of Christ as the rich sweet ointment pouring out of our being to others ...

The smell of the nard was so strong when mary broke the alabaster box that it filled the WHOLE house.

Praise theLord for such a deep question.
Your sister
Sandy

I think all of us have felt this was at sometime or another in our walk. Sometimes we make choices that cause this feeling. But there are times that it caused by attacks on our spirit from outside forces. Don't worry If this is happening to you or someone you know. God will always come just in time to help you and take the broken pieces and put them back together. He always helps his children and is always there just when you need Him the most. Through the valleys in our lives we gain strength to climb the mountains. During the times we feel the weakest we learn how to navigate the rough places we must walk through. On top of the mountain we can see the road so clearly for a long distance. But it is when we are walking steadily that we gain the most ground.

Yes. Sometimes it takes us being broken to have our eyes open.

I know I had to reach my lowest point in my life, after looking up into the mirror in the bathroom with a counter full of drugs, and at that moment, actually Seeing who and what I had become.

That moment, of being broken, just not being able, or not wanting to be that way any more, pushed me to crying out to the Lord!

I thank the Lord for loving me so much and never leaving me!

Any Organization, Church or Religion doesn't break if its
foundation is not on sloid truth and nothing but truth.

So Christians should ask themselves why we have so many differences, why we have so many denominations when all say Jesus is son of God and he died for our sins.

There is a statment of God in Quran that reads
"Hold on to the rope of God and do not divide into sects".

For this Islam do not have as many sects as Christianity has.

Shias and Sunnis are not sects. They worship God exactly same way. Particularly in USA many Shias pray with Sunnis in sunni people's Mosques and Sunnis also pray with Shias.

Their difference is more political than Religion. Shias believe that Ali being the family member of Prophet Mohammad should have been given the leadership immediately after Prophet died but Advisory Counsel of Prophet voted on the most senior companions of Prophet three times and fourth time they voted for Ali. This is the only reason of their separation.

It depends on what your 'broken' from, but for the majority I would say yes.

Its good to be broken from addiction, broken from destructive relationship, broken from arrogance...etc.

Blessings!

“ God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

Brokenness is being humbled and God give Grace to the humbled...ie SALVATION!! That's is so good it's more than words can say!! We simply just don't deserve it!

I do not believe Christianity is broken but many churches are. It is definitely a "bad thing" because many people can not separate their faith from the church. So if the church is broken so is their faith.
