My husband just made E4. Some people in the past said they made 3-400 difference. Has anyone made E4 and made that difference. One website said it was only 100 in base and 0 in BAH. Does anyone know

E- 4 basic pay is the same in all branches. On the average it is only $154 dollars difference but could be slightly more if has been in for more than six years. BAH rate doesn't change for an enlisted soldier until he reaches E-5.

Your BAH doesnt change but I know for a fact when my husband made E4 he didnt make that much. Then when he went from e4 to E5 he got like a $70raise. Thats it. You BAH never changes with their rate. BAH just goes off zipcode and w/or w/o dependents

Should be what the pay scales say; might be a little difference if he is getting speciality pay and some of that won't show unil they make E4. But the pay scales would be what you should go by.

If he is stationed on a ship, it might make a difference. When I was in active duty, only E-4 and above received sea pay. So by making petty officer, he would now get sea pay if he is assigned to a ship.

Here are the military pay charts: http://www.dfas.mil/militarypay/2006militarypaytables/2007MilitaryPayCharts-1.pdf

Pay differences between E-3 and E-4 will vary based on time in service.

About the same. But if you're joining the SEALs for the pay, don't bother, you'll be washed out in a week.
