My Dad started having pain in his leg in March when he walked for 20 yards or more. The doctor said it was his age and sent him away. When the pain got worse and started waking him in the night he went back to the doctor. This was about a month later. The doctor then said he would refer my Dad, but "forgot" to send the letter, so another month was wasted. Eventually my Dad got to see a specialist a month ago, and on the information he had from a scan he recommended a minor operation 2 weeks later. When he went in for the operation he was told that his leg was too bad, and that he would be referred back to the specialist in 2 weeks (today). He went in today to be told by the specialists understudy (the specialist was busy) that his condition was now too far gone for surgery, and that he should go to his doctor in 2 weeks time to get a prescription to treat it medically. Does anyone know of another specialist who can help him? I'm giving up with the NHS!! I'll find the money!

My Dad is 71.

At the moment I just want to find a doctor/surgeon who can help him. I'll find the money to pay for it, and worry about complaining about his doctor later.

Some 'doctor'! Could be that going private is your da's way out...but wait - is there some way you could sting the doctor...getting in touch with your Member of Parliament to wake him up - or something? If any of my family was dealt with by such a bum - I'd even go to Westminster myself, with a reporter from the populist press with camera! That is disgusting.
You never said how old your father was...but methinks a trip to a solicitor/your local politician might be a good start.
Hope you don't think I'm being a turd - but see you asked the same question (as near as dammit, anyhows), five months ago. What kind of medicals work there?

The NHS is a waste of time. I don’t know if the people at this web site could help your dad.

If they cannot they would certainly (I would of thought) be able to give you a contact number for a specialist.
