Mash is a bait or attractant used to draw Deer into a certain area. It's usually made from several different crushed grains like Wheat,Barley, Dried Corn, even Acorns and a binder (Molasses,Honey,Corn Sugar) that is added to hold the mixture together to form a "paste" consistency. It can be bought commercially or you can make it yourself. The Deer are attracted to the scent as well as the taste....

I think it's a kind of bait. For horses, bran mash is a sort of cooked oatmeal thingy. For deer, could be apples, carrots, that sort of thing, chopped and mixed together.
Did not find any web site specific for this.

When a buck (male deer), in in the rut (mating season), he will do things he normally wouldnt do. He will be less carefull in his chase for a doe. putting his life at risk. Its comparable to a teenage drunk on moonshine (mash), chasing a girl.
