Spiritual or progressive churches never ask for an offering. If we want to contribute we must do it anonymously.

Not all churches are this way, some are actually concerned about the souls of men and women.
I know there are some out there that, focus only on the tithe and offering, there is much more to living a Christian life and loving God than paying tithe and offering.

Your views of coughing up cash reveals how darkened your heart really is. Jesus says to GIVE and it shall be GIVEN BACK to you, pressed down, shaken together and running over shall men GIVE unto you..This is a law and those who give, it is like sowing good seed and a good harvest those receive whether they receive it in this life or in the life to come. Also when one gives they are storing up treasures in Heaven in which God is the one who sees the heart and knows how to reward those who are givers. Those who sit back and mock surely are givers nor are they going to be rewarded but the bad seed they sow in life will come upon them in this life and in the life to come and it won't be in heaven..

You've been watching too many television evangelists. Check out a real church. Very few sermons are actually about tithing.

No - not most at all.
At the church I attend (and lots of others) when the offering is taken, we ask visitors to REFRAIN from giving, and to just enjoy the service.
Giving is an act of worship for believers.

Yes.
Every time my parent's church is low on cash the preacher does a sermon about tithing and about how if you don't do it you're going to hell.

Yes and I hate it and I CRINGE when it happens because it makes it that much harder for those of us who truly love Jesus and just give of our own free time to testify.........well it makes it so much harder for us. There are some REAL strong words in the book of Jeremiah about preachers who fatten themselves up and say peace peace when there is no peace. They will be held accountable believe me.

No, that is part of it...most of it revolves around one group trying to get the other group to see why their deal is good.
