my best friends daughter is ginger and shes the most beautiful baby girl ive ever seen even though i used to think ginger hair was a bit horrible i must admit and i guess i had a phobia of my children turning out with it but you learn to love them for who they are and its pathetic to say they cant have children just because of their hair colour

Okay, after reading your comment about "looking ginger", I just wanted to add this: there are beautiful and ugly people with all hair colours, whether red, dark or blonde.

It is characterized by high levels of the reddish pigment pheomelanin and relatively low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin. People with red hair are often referred to as redheads or, gingers. Approximately 1% to 2% of the human population have red hair.

Red hair appears in people with two copies of a recessive gene on chromosome 16 which causes a change in the MC1R protein. It is associated with fair skin color, freckles, and sensitivity to ultraviolet light, as the mutated MC1R protein is found in the skin and eyes instead of the darker melanin. Having read that, I think we should celebrate the uniqueness of those with red hair. In fact, we should actively encourage these people to procreate! Their unique genes may actively help preserve the human race in a future ice age, no doubt propagated by global warming!!
