If you are an atheist and you happened to have a disagreement with someone, anyone do you assume that the person you are disagreeing with is a theist? If you receive poor customer service, confronted by a stranger who is just rude, or just taken advantage of out in public do you just assume that the person is a theist?

If a customer complains about you on the job, a fellow employee complains about you on the job, or if you are reprimanded do you assume that it is because you are an atheist and not because they could have a valid reason?

Actually I don't make assumptions towards anyone. If I make a complaint it is because they deserve it. If someone makes a complaint against me it is because I deserve it. Yet several atheists have made the claim that most of the worlds problems is caused by religion. By that, you must mean people who have a religion. Naturally you are talking about things in a grand scale. So I decided to bring it down to a smaller minute scale; when doing so the atheist paranoid whining does not apply. If it is applicable to the grand scale, it must be applicable to the smaller scale.

Atheists generalize just as much as the average Joe. A poster posted this hypocritical question and not one person, but me saw the irony in it.

Micheal:
If my logic is flawed then your logic is flawed. I don't know or any other person knows who is or isn't an atheist. It is impossible to know. Atheists may go to church for the social interactions, participate in traditional christain holidays (that have been turned secular), and even usually a religious idiom. Just the same, you can't tell if someone is a christain or not.

Assumption is the mother of all foul ups :)

I wouldn't make any theological assumptions about someone with whom I've had a run in.

That's actually a bit scary that you'd even think this way.

[edit]
OK - I read your update and I can appreciate your stance. However, your logic is flawed.
Atheists condemn religion for the ills of the world in that religion tries to control man's actions by a set of rules and laws, many of which have no basis in truth as it applies to a healthy society, by a deity who only speaks to the ones making the laws. The other little tidbit is that the followers are ready to kill and die for their leaders - er... rather... their God.

Atheists aren't without blame either. Consider atheism as a state sponsored religion of communism... then again... that may fall under the category of religion and church and state corruption of such.

The point is that Atheism and its blame game toward "religion" is one based on the Religious controlling the population. The Religious have the SAME CONTENTION about the Atheists. They would contend that the atheists want everybody to abandon their God and their faith and live their lives, not according to God's word, but Man's word.

The atheists just tend to be more honest about their political and (a)moral agendas than the religiously motivated.

This may be the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. If I have a disagreement with someone, I assume it is because we don't agree on that topic. If someone complains about me, I assume it is because they don't like the way I did something (Which probably means they're a jerk, but that's another matter). Unless the reason for the disagreement is religion, I don't consider it at all.

I don't assume anything. I could care less what a person belief system is. No one can tell just by looking at me that I'm an atheist just like I can't tell at first glace that a person is a theist unless they have on a religious symbol of some sort. Even if they do their belief system doesn't usually enter into my mind.

Please - grow up and get an education!!!!!

Atheist just do not believe in a god - any god -not just yours!!!

Therefore they can believe in any religion, creed, spiritualism or anything else that does not have a god. Therefore almost every religion, and belief system outside of Christianity and the Muslim religion is open to them.

Turn your question around for goodness sake!!

Why are Christians so intent on character assassination of anyone who does not believe as they do? If their faith is so strong why are they so afraid of anyone who is a non believer?

Yet another question that denigrates Christianity and makes Christians appear total hypocrites - Are you proud of yourself?

If I am having a talk with , a discussion , a disagreement , an arguement , a fist fight , or anything else religion is not in my mind . In fact , religion is never on my mind except here on Yahoo answers .
That this question would even come to your mind makes me wonder about you .

No, that's foolish. I don't assume someones beliefs based their attitude or any random hateful or stupid act and I'm willing to bet that very few atheist do this. It simply doesn't make sense.

What you're describing seems like a pretty stupid and illogical way to be. Certainly not common atheist traits from my perspective.

I disagree with people because I believe they're incorrect. If I confront a shopkeeper because he's shortchanged me, his religion beliefs aren't relevant.

But then, when I'm not arguing theological truths rife with hidden shallows on here, I consider my personal religious beliefs just that; personal. They don't enter my work life, for instance.

Ignorance.

99% of the arguments we get into are because we don't understand the other person's point of view, but assume we do. For the most part, we all agree a whole LOT more than we think we do.

no, i tend not to think of real people as being theists. Only people on t'interwebs.

Why would i automatically assume that someone is a theist and even if i did, i wouldn't mind - it isn't the theists that bother me, its the system.

Well, 85% of people in my country are theists. (And about 95% in my geographical area.) So yes, I generally assume I'm dealing with a theist unless proven otherwise. Of course, that still leaves a the question of which brand of theist they are...

My usual complaints with people have nothing to do with their religion. And theirs with me have nothing to do with religion. I never discuss religion with anyone unless I know them well.
