I'm doing a paper about religion in the face of death, with reference to the Holocaust and how the Jewish people reacted religiously. In general how do people act religiously when they are faced with problems, fear, death, danger, etc.? Some cling to it. Some blame it for their problems and begin to question it. ANY BOOKS THAT COULD HELP WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

Dear Friend,

I would encourage you to read Bhagavad Gita which is also known as the song of GOD.

This book will enlighten you with the following 5 things.

1. Who is GOD , and how he is present , and maintenaing not only this universe but innumerable universes by fraction oh His energy.

2.SOUL (living enties manifested/unmanifested)

Who you are and what is your relationship with the Lord.

3.Material Nature

What is this material natures that we all living entities are enjoying and how ?

4.Karma

What is Karma(action) and how we are enjoying and suffering the fruits of our own actions, not just in this life but many many other past lives.

5.Time

What is KALA(Time) and how it impacts us.

Out of the 5 things except Karma all are eternal. Karma has bindings and due to that the soul has to go though cycles of births and entrapped in the material nature and is always illusioned. It is hard to burn our Karma as anything we do builds new Karma that we have to enjoy or suffer.

So the goal is to nullify Karma and without the proper knowledge we can never make it. No only knowledge but also we need special mercy from the Lord to leave this cycles of karmic reactions.

Please read the Gita from here. If you read once with patience everything will be as clear as water and if The Lord so desire you will see things as it is.

This knowledge is is for entire humanity as it gives the direct perception of our soul and the supersoul. This is not for any particular faith or cult as we all the spirit souls that almost all religions accept it.

This book teaches couple of ways to reach GOD. like through actions or Yoga or Knowledge but the best path as HE suggest is by Bhakti Yoga(devotional path). Read chapter 10 and you would be amazed to see how The Lord interacts with His devotees.

I hope that helps.

A Muslim who knows teachings of his religion and prays to God five times a day is never afraid of death. He knows one day he will die and that day can come any moment. When he sees his death near he says "We come from God and to Him we go back". He keeps asking for forgiveness of his sins and spends more his time in worshipping Allah. He keeps repeting "there is no God but Allah and Mohammad is His Messenger". You will not see fear of death on his face.

Muslims who never practice Islam and live like they are not Muslims, they are the ones who fear death. They don't know what to do at time like this. Because they know that they lived away from God and are fearful of hell fire because they believe it exists. They have the fear of death because they wish for more time to do some good in rest of their life.
I pity for them. And pray to God for their forgiveness.
