Why did Tech Companies stop working on making household robot servants?

Radio Shack was selling em in the mid 80s.... and we've all seen Rosie on Jetsons.... but why did they stop working on the technology for good, working, personal, household robot servants. The closest thing we have nowadays is that circular vaccuum that changes directions when it hits a wall

China and Japan are and already have robots that are way advanced. The U.S. is way behind these countries in all technology. When is the last time you bought anything in this country. Wake up..Close the borders
