We are purchasing new computers for my house this Christmas and I wish to install MS Office 2007 on all of them. When I looked online I could only find information about licensing multiple computers in business settings. So I'm not sure, short of buying the program a few times, what the best solution would be. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Asking For it is correct. Here is the info off the Microsoft web site.

"Can I install Office Home and Student 2007 on more than one device?"

"Yes, if you have purchased a retail license of Office Home and Student 2007. The retail license terms permit installation and use of Office Home and Student 2007 on three devices."

As long as it is for home use you can buy microsoft office Home & Student Edition for 149.99 and that includes a 3 user license so you can install on up to 3 computers.

The Home and Student Version of Office only have: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote

If you need any other software you will be paying up the wazzu.

The standard version of office is a single user license and cost 399.99. This does include Outlook.

As for openoffice... ehh

Legally you are supposed to purchase a copy for each computer, sooo.....

Why not just purchase one copy for your "main" system and then download Open Office for the rest of the systems. Open Office is an open source program and therefor free. It is a full featured office suite with a word processor, graphics editor, spread sheet, and much more. It will open and edit Microsoft Office files.
