Linux to me is like a breath of fresh air.I use Windows Vista and XP as well, but Linux feels and I suppose is more intimate. One feels involved in the development process, none more so than when testing a new beta or distro. The ability to be involved with the development team,to submit reports or simple comments brings a sense of belonging and sharing.I remember recently being one of the first to test the Mach Boot distro, the worlds fastest booting Linux distro and it meant a lot that the developer actually wanted my comments and reaction.I doubt whether Bill Gates will ever ask me about Vista. The never ending variety and change in Linux provides a constant new challenge.Infact Linux is now as much a part of my life, maybe even more so,than Vista or XP.The fact that I have typed this reply whilst using Linux suggests that.In any event I enjoy computing whatever the flavour and Microsoft should be proud of their achievement. Now whats new at Distromania?http://www.distromania.com/

I use Kubuntu and I like the fact that it's:

- Free
- Always good quality free alternatives to expensive software packages
- Has COMPIZ FUSION!!!!
- Boots quickly
- More secure than Microsoft could ever wish to be
- Economical on RAM
- Fast operation
- Looks good
- Never crashes
- Has Amarok, which is pretty much the best media player around
- Easy to navigate, especially in KDE
- A sense of involvement with the machine, entering command lines etc compared with Windows where you just click a load of buttons

I like being able to control programs from the command line and being able to write shell scripts easily. It makes it much easier to automate all sorts of things.

I also like how easy it is to peek at the internals and poke around. You can tweak almost everything!
