I'm eating an entire box of cereal each day on my radical "All Shredded Wheat Diet™". Since the breakfast food is fortified with 11 essential vitamins and minerals, I'm getting at least 9 times the amount of folic acid I need every day. Is this dangerous? And more importantly, won't I look sexy when I drop the weight?

How many calories is that? And what are you doing about getting all the vitamins and minerals that are missing from that box?

It doesn't sound like a very sensible or safe diet. There is such a thing as too much fiber, and there are some nasty possible complications from it. Depending on what specific cereal you're eating, you could be chowing down tons of calories while not getting all of the nutrients you need. You could end up gaining weight and simultaneously being malnourished.

Too much folic acid can lead to a deficiency in vitamin B12 because it masks the symptoms of that deficiency. There are other vitamins with greater possibilities of toxicity in high doses.

No...if you mean die. At least not right away.

Some vitamins are toxic in large doses...as in LETHAL.

Here's a tip: grab a brain and do your diet PROPERLY. Talk to a doctor, and if necessary, as for a referral to a dietician!
