If your neighbors have suggested you take Tinkers, they apparently don't want him. So why not find a new home for him as a single, indoor cat? The RSPCA means the UK, and I don't know your resources there, but am sure they are analgous to US resources. Just ask people as they cross into your life if they wouldn't love a handsome fellow coming to live with them, to have and to hold, to love, honor and OBEY. When you are in the pet supply store, you might want to ask if there are any groups of people (in the U.S., usually ladies) who rescue cats -- not horde, but socialize and adopt them out, after they've gotten them proper vet care and cleaned up their wanton ways. You might also check with a vet's office or two, as they sometimes will take a cat in for the purpose of adopting them out as well.

Tinks is not coming to visit, you know. He is actively seeking a new home, which makes him a bright, enterprising little fellow, indeed -- just the kind of cat who would nestle his canny way into the right person's heart for years to come. Why don't you just assume that, cat or no, he really knows himself well enough to know what is good for him, and honor his quest. It won't make you any richer, of course, but it will give you a very warm, snuggy feeling inside yourself.

Good luck. Wish I could meet Tinks.

Unfortunately legally hes probably not breaking any laws so the RSPCA may not have a reason to take him away even though he isint treating the cat fairly. Legally if the cat is fed and given water and not being kicked around the place it isint cruelty! So my suggestion is if the RSPCA can't do anything, then you could catch the cat rehome him far away, and if the owners accuse you, then just say that expensive breeds such as persians are regularly stolen, and that if they cared so much about the wellfare of the animal, then they should have looked after it better and not let it roam outside where it could get stolen or killed! Good on you for helping the poor thing, people like your neighbours sicken me!

if none of the cats are done,it's a Territorial thing,he's only doing a cat thing,i have 4 cats, 3 queens and a tom,the male was a stray and after he'd been hanging around for a year he got a injury so i took him to the vets and explained to the vet he wasn't mine, they said i can now class him as mine,i have a neighbours cat who lives here too,i have another tom who comes here but i know his name, not sure where he lives but he is not 'done' but he's OK with the others cos they are 'done' he does not have to prove to other males he has a stronger 'gene' pool to mate with the queens, but having said that they do have a scuffle now and again

You could try getting one of those cat doors with the locking mechanism that only unlocks for a cat who is wearing a little transmitter on their collar. It's kind of expensive, but will prevent non-resident cats from getting into your house. At my old house, we had trouble with racoons getting into the basement through the cat door so we bought one of those.

Or you could go the other route and tell your neighbor you're calling animal control if you see the cat on your property again.

Seal off the cat flap for good. If you leave it so that your little ones can get out then nextdoors cat will keep coming in and causing problems.

Squirt the offending cat in the face with cold water (from an empty washing up liquid bottle or something). He'll get the message eventually, without any real harm.

get a lion!
ok, thats just silly. i have a water pistol and this works wonders on my cats when they do naughty things or go places they are not supposed to. they do not like it one little bit. spray him through the cat flap whenever he is there, he'll soon bog off

set up a live trap and trap the cat and take it to a no kill shelter. all animals NEED to be under their owners control at ALL times.....the animal MUST be on the person's property or on a leash. Doesn't sound like this person takes very good care of their cats if they are coming onto your property and getting into your house.

nothing you can do,im afraid. cats can go where they please. i have 4 of my own but at least 3 strays live here and they all hate each other but i let them get on with it. theyll get used to each other in the end as they wont have no choice.
