Probably not. I don't even know what it's about, but it looks like it could be really good. Also, it's just a movie -- made for entertainment, so...

Not on those grounds, but I doubt I'll see it.
Very few books survive translation into films, which makes more of a reason, for me.

And somewhere, somewhen, in an attempt to surpass "Lord of the Rings", the sweeping scenery and OTT graphic presentations have tended to eat up stories (300, Beowulf... )

Of all Pullman's writing I think I enjoyed "Clockwork" the most.

Well, they have totally downplayed the central anti-Catholic theme until there won't be any point to the story so yes... why not.
Nicole Kidman...her looks is okay but she can't act, plus there's the unpleasant thought of that Scientologist squirt of an ex.

Plus, Nicole Kidman, like Gwen Stefani, looks a mannequin.

No sorry, my daughters are excited to see it and I'd like to see how it comes across.

I'll try to finish the second book and read the third before then. I could never get through the second and haven't ever started the third.

Edit
I agree with tawaen, if it is anything like the bridge to teribith-whatever movie, I wouldn't want to watch it.

I boycotted "the Da Vinci Code" because Tom Hanks is ugly as hell although I LOVE the book

Hell no. I'm gonna be there opening weekend. I've already read the books and they were great. Hopefully the movie will be just as good as the first book....

I support anything that pisses off a few fundies....

I got an email from a Christian friend telling me to boycott it.

That just means the movie goes to the top of my list of "must see movies"!

Of course. The only difference now is that I have a reason not to go other than saying I think it would suck.

I will join, simply because I have no interest in seeing it!

What do you think would drive up ticket sales more....a religious boycott of the movie or the religious movement telling everyone they should see it?
