I don't know what the Muslims believe...the idea of a 6,ooo-year-old earth is based on a literal reading of the Bible, which only the most hardcore fundamentalists take as truth.
As for the part about mental illness...hey, I'm not a doctor.

No. Not all Christians think that the Earth is 6000 years old! I don't! I don't take the Bible literally, either. I imagine there are Muslims who don't believe the 70 virgin thing, either.

I think religion is man made to give faith in something, It must be good to have a strong belief in something/or someone to help you through difficult times.
I am about to be struck by a thunderbolt duuuuuuuuck....
The Muslim religion started in about 630 AD, The Jewish faith started approx 5768 and the Christian religion started about 60 years after Jesus died on the cross 2007 years ago. It would be more useful trying to save the planet without religion and wars destroying it.

religion is the product of man's imagination and his search for answers and as such, it is not technically a "mental illness". think of it as the result of brainwashing...this is why all religions insist on some ritual involving the newly born individual. as the saying goes, "get 'em while they're young"... the tobacco companies use this tactic with great success.
