advantix goes on the back of the neck. You didn't have your dog ingest it, did you?

Questions:

1) How long ago did you apply the Advantix? (takes 24 hours to work)
2) Did you get it all on the skin? (won't work if it's on the fur)
3) Have you treated your cat too? (essential to treat all animals when fleas are about)
4) Have you treated your house too? (usually necessary)

Don't bath him. That is not the way to treat fleas, whichever way you look at it. Flea shampoos do not deal with fleas and, if you applied the Advantix within the last 48 hours, bathing would wash it off.

my shih tzu had frontline plus. It worked just fine. If the dog was infested with fleas and this is your first dosage then contiue the dosage and also I found out from my vet some good info. Get Dawn dishsoap and wash him in it. It kills a lot of flease instantly. Regular Dawn.

have you tried treating your house?

you can bathe him, but use a gentle dog shampoo. using a flea shampoo could make him sick since you have already applied flea medication to him. you could also get some capstar from your vet that will kill any fleas on him in addition to treating your house.
