people keep saying that's in the old testament -- if god's so freaking awesome, why does he need a new testament? I say we start having public sacrifices every Monday morning, since we can't seem to keep church and state seperate, we might as well make it entertaining!

Jesus was the final ultimate sacrifice for sin---if you would read the New Testament, and then go back and read the Old Testament, it might make more sense to you. You will see how all the Old Testament laws, and worship rituals foreshadowed and led up to Christ's atonement for sin.

God does require a blood sacrifice for sin. "Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin." (Hebrews)
Jesus was the perfect sinless "Lamb of God" who was born for that very purpose. That's why the Virgin Birth was necessary, and why it was necessary that God come in the flesh, because no sacrifice is perfect or complete enough to be the once-and-for-all atonement for sin that Christ provided.

If you have read far enough (or know Jewish people) who celebrate Passover, then you understand how the Jews in captivity in Egypt were required to put the blood over their doorposts so the plague of death to the firstborn would "pass over" their house. This symbolizes and foreshadows the coming Lamb of God, or Messiah (Savior). When Jesus celebrated Passover with his disciples, He showed this comparison when He instituted the Lord's Supper. (Communion) The bread and the cup He used to symbolize His body and blood when He died on the cross.
But when He rose again, He showed His power over sin, death, and Hell, and that's where the victory and hope of Christianity comes from.

You are on the right track--keep reading until you can understand how it all fits together. To a Christian, the gruesomeness of the history of sacrifice is part of the amazing grace of God's plan to redeem His children.

Hard to have this conversation with an ignorant person such as yourself, but I will try.

Everything you are citing is from the Old Testament.
Christians actually live more by the New Testament. Even at that, it doesn't mean that all Christians interpret the Bible literally.
If you are attacking what is in the Old Testament, you are actually discriminating against Jewish people more than Christians, but you probably have no idea what I am talking about anyways.

Dear Friend,

It is not necessary any more...for animal sacrifices.

In the Old Testament there was no other way but by "blood" (symbolic of LIFE) sacrifice to satisfy a HOLY God's anger towards sin.

Jesus Christ became the only acceptable (Lamb of God), and took our place on the cross...for the sins of the world. He paid a debt we could not pay. Thank you Jesus.

My Savior is Jesus Christ and I live for Him.

Sold out for Christ Jesus,

lostnsavd...

Christians even have faith animals haven't any souls, in accordance to the bible, Jews or pre christians used to sacrifice animals, and then they sacrificed jesus, so yeah, i think of christians sacrificed animals. They nonetheless do, its only no longer heard approximately with the aid of fact christians attempt to conceal it up.

No. When Jesus died on the cross he became the perfect sacrifice, that is a lamb with out blemish. As such, no animal sacrifice is evermore needed.

No of course not! Because thats "Old Testament" stuff, and we dont follow the "Old Testament" anymore. OH Oh, except for that one passage in leviticus, a man shall not lay with a man as he lays with a woman, that one still applies. But None of the rest of the old testament.
