I wish I could move somewhere where they are outlawed! Nothing says Happy Thanksgiving like the neighbor's leaf blower whining in the background while we're trying to have a nice meal. Also, husband is working night shift - ever try to sleep while one of those things is revved up next door??? HATE THEM!!!! We use a rake and broom to clean up. We get exercise plus a tidy lawn and quiet neighborhoon. I understand a lawn service using them for 10 minutes but this has been going on for an hour - SHEESH!

i think of you're able to dedicate all it gradual to coming up leafless timber and then plant them everywhere an present tree with leaves is turning out to be. quickly, the will for leaf blowing will disappear! through how, who precisely has performed the analyze "suggesting" that brooms and rakes artwork in simple terms as rapid? The broom and rake manufacturers? have you ever watched a guy or woman employing a blower? there is not any way a rake is as rapid as, or can flow an equivalent volume of leaves interior the comparable volume of time ... it is impossible ... and a broom in simple terms is the incorrect gadget for the activity!

I own a Lawn Service business in Maryland and use them all the time but have never heard of them being illegal anywhere. The EPA was trying to (or did) get regular two-stroke gas equipment outlawed and the manufactures now make what is known as 2 stroke/4 stroke motors for such equiptment, but they did not, to my knowledge, outlaw the old stuff, just waiting until it wears out I belive is their response (EPA).

Not in my area anyway. A while back there was talk of outlawing them but due to general outrage from grounds keepers, gardeners and even cries of discrimination from Latino groups the idea was scrapped.
However there are ordinances as to the times of the day these things can be operated.

There are places where the gas-powered blowers are illegal - but that ordinance will very from county to county. (Most of the counties I've read about this ban are in California ... Palo Alto, Menlo Park, etc.)

Many California cities have banned the use of gasoline powered leaf blowers. See

I guess every town is different. Are you thinking because of the noise? Some neighborhoods don't allow loud power tools.
