Well, Iv'e told this before and I think it bears repeating.
My niece (10 years old) was over for dinner and we were at the table eating and carrying on coversation and she asked " Uncle Mark, What's that thing that hangs down in the back of your throat called." Before I had a chance to answer my son (8 years old) says " I know, I know, those are your testicles." Well, food immediatly sprayed out of my mouth as well as the other adults at the table. Oh, by the way, my son now knows the difference between his uvula and his testicles. Isn't it great how we learn things?
What do ya think? Any humor there?

There is only one case of laughter I know of in the Torah. That is when Sarah laughed and G-d wasn't too happy with that.
Suppose you see someone unpopular in the cafeteria slip on a banana peel and fall spilling their tray of food. Is it better to laugh at them? Or to ask them if they are ok, help them up, and help pick up their food?
Almost everytime someone tells a joke, even a clean one, someone else has to top it. Eventually the jokes end up either immoral or directed at some group of people.
How often have you heard "What's the matter, can't you take a joke?" Usually this is in response to hurting someone with their humor and then blaming the victim for not having a sense of humor.
Is it a sin? Depends on the situation. Is it unkind? In many cases yes. Does it lead to immoral talk? In many cases yes.
Shalom

Psalms 2:4; 37:13; 59:8 all are occasions where God laughs. So certainly if He can laugh and has a sense of humor, we can too.
I laugh every day when I look in the mirror.

No. God has quite a sense of humor. Just look at the avocado and the platypus.
BUT it is all too possible to have a deviant, sinful sense of humor. I've seen a lot of that here on this forum.

You mean to wonder why Judaism has 613 Commandments, Christianity 10, and the USA Supreme Court none at all?
Yes, that's a sin and if an American, a double sin, and if an American and a Republican, a triple sin.

Excellent point. Christians should not tell jokes or laugh. They should eat lemons for breakfast to help them have a dour look.
Just kidding :-)

Not at all.....only when your sense of humor is insulting and making a mockery of others religions is it considered so. I wouldn't necessarilly say "sin" but unethical and immoral or insensitive to others beliefs.

No, Jesus had a sense of humor. Just make sure that it is a clean sense of humor. Exp: When Jesus was asked by his mother to turn water into wine at the reseption party, his response was along the lines of "Mother, mother, what am I to do with you woman. My time has not yet come."

God invented humor. I think he enjoys a good joke probably more than humans do.
