i am an US ARMY recruiter. everyone one of the answers so far is exactly right. the only thing that will hold you back from doing SF is your criminal history. however, there is a slim possibility it could be waived if you absolutely have no other charges out there at all, regardless of the disposition of the case. other than that your not too old to join.
another possiblity would be to enlist for 3 or 4 yrs as infantry then let your military record speak for itself.

Your age may be an issue, but the felony record will most likely disqualify you. You have to be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance for that job, and a felony record would be a major issue in that process. The "Green Berets" is an elite group of soldiers and not something you can just get into right from the start. You would have to enlist first, get through all the required initial training and work your way up to that. I believe there is a seperate school for those who are interested once you are in the enlisted ranks. The felony charges could very well disqualify you altogether from ever doing that, and possibly from even joining. It is probably going to depend what the charge was for, how long ago it was and if everything has been settled in the courts already. Best thing to do is contact your local recruiter and see what they could do for you.

Let's start with--Why would they want you? The military is a different lifestyle. You can join the military with just about any type of record and the age is open. You are asking about the more elite of the military. They come to you. You have to earn the right. Join the Army--excell--prove you are worthy and you might have a 1 in 1,000 chance. I question how you got to 26 before you thought of the military. USMC 60-68

Your age is no big deal.
It also depends on your fitness..
Wih your record though, talk to a recruiter.
They might be able to give you waiver for that.
As long as you didn't rob 78 banks and shoot people in the face after..hell..still they might put you in infantry lol just kidding!
GOOD LUCK
and don't let your past effect your future :)

There have been considerable rule changes over the past few years. The only person competent to answer your questions is your local recruiter.

You don't try out for the Berets... they come to you. And no, you would not be able to get in with a felony conviction... more like, they wouldn't want you.

Your age is going to be less of an issue than your felony.
