I personally think that people that drive SUVs in general should be shot (not literally!). Whether people believe the climate issue is real or a government conspiracy, there is still no reason why adding too many carbon emissions into the environment is a good idea. The USA is the worst culprit, and it is mostly down to the transport. In the UK people are now frowned upon for driving a big 4x4 in cities etc. They are not only bad for the environment, they are also dangerous and cause more deaths to children that normal sized cars due to the height, roll bars etc. If you own a farm, cool - if not, stop being so hung up on the status of a big car - what are you over compensating for?!?
As for the church getting invovled... why not...
I am not religious, but am totally up for people being restricted for being so selfish - and if that includes communion, then so be it!

According to an article I read in the National Geographic magazine, cattle are responsible for 50% of the greenhouse gases that affect global warming (imagine that, farting cows are killing the ozone). Should we then deny communion to cattle ranchers? Why not instead just kill all the cows and cut greenhouse gas emission by 50%? Doesn't make sense either, does it.

The Church cannot deny Communion to a parishioner simply on account of the automobile they drive because driving an automobile - even an SUV, in and of itself, does not constitute mortal-sin material.
Some people have to drive SUV's because of their lifestyle. Others drive them simply because they want to, even when their lifestyle doesn't demand it. It's these peoeple who, out of a general concern for their planet, drive a smaller more fuel-efficient car.

Bill O'Rielly was asked about SUV'S Hummers actually..and I agree with Him, he said "why would you want to drive an armored Humvee ? are you going to war ?
As far as the Catholic Church Denying Communion to those who drive SUV's
It's their choice, I Think it is extreme, but non-the less , their choice.
So what do you drive ? Is your vehicle an Internal combustion engine powered vehicle that has been obsolete for over 50 years

China is one of the hugest polluter (set to pass up everyone else in 3 years) and that wouldn't really help them would it?
The only solution is for people to wake up and make the change on their own. You can't have government and church mandating everything we do. Maybe the government should pay for ads about it and the church could have fliers in church about the problem.
I think auto makers have to be the ones to make something that gets better milage. They shouldn't be waiting for people to stop buying them...they should make a great auto that has good milage and give people that better option.

I could not care less who you deny communion to, being sense that is between God and the individual. And I do drive not one, but two gas drinking suv's. Why even pretend to believe God is in control with that mentality.

Lol, that might help a little. But then SUVs are more of a status symbol, "I can afford to protect my Family with this big car", so I think very few Christians are willing to give that up.

Acts two:38 Acts 19:two-6 two) He mentioned unto them, Have ye got the Holy Ghost due to the fact ye believed? And they mentioned unto him, We have now not such a lot as heard whether or not there be any Holy Ghost. three) And he mentioned unto them, Unto what then have been ye baptized? And they mentioned,Unto John's baptism. four) Then mentioned Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance; pronouncing unto the men and women that they must suppose on him which must come after him, that's on Christ Jesus. five) When they heard this, they have been baptized within the title of the Lord Jesus. 6) And whilst Paul had laid his hand upon them, the Holy Ghost got here on them; they usually spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Yes! People who drive those SUVs like the Hummer are committing the sin of gluttony as they are consuming the most gas out of the other non commercial vehicles on the road. Greedy people! You know how people throw paint on furs? I think it'd be great if people threw paint on Hummers in protest. They contribute to our high gas prices by raising the demand. Arrrg!
