I am not really what you call a "religious" person, but I think EVERY person, regardless of what you think and believe will be touched by this....
Please view it and tell me what you think...
Thanks :)

I guess NOT all people view a baby calk as a living, breathing, feeling being ....
Those kind of people are completely soul-less

Even if the little boy did not have any religion in his life, think about a 13 yr. old boy having to euthanize his "pet" baby calf ....! :(
SO SAD people!

DON"T miss the point, people!
This is about a young boy who had to put his own pet to "sleep" [euthanasia]. I guess you negative people have NO special child in your life... that calf was his PET!
You are soooo MISSING the entire point!

I'm truly appalled by some of the heartless responses from the members of this forum, but after a year here I shouldn't be surprised by it.
Whatever you believe, there is a child who's little heart was broken by the loss of a friend, and who, in his grief, displayed more maturity and wisdom than most of us can ever hope to know.
My heart aches for sweet little Logan. And I fear for anyone in a desperate situation who happens to come into contact with the rude people who posted a response here.
I apologize for using your question to rant, but I have never seen such venom spewed over something so heartbreaking.
Thank you for sharing this link with us.

As I listened to this boy, I was shocked at his emotional and spiritual maturity; there are some adult Christians who don't have the same level of understanding that he does.
He hit the nail on the head with his comparison of the calf to Jesus. There was nothing sacriligous about it; he said "kind of", and that's what he meant.
What he was getting at is that both he and God had to sacrifice a loved one for the greater good; God sent Jesus to die to pay the debt of sin that we couldn't afford to pay so that all we have to do to avoid eternal damnation is get saved and live for Him, and the little boy put the cow down even though he loved it like a family member because he knew that if he didn't the cow would live the rest of it's life in pain and misery.

Wow! how true it is! And I'm not what you call a religious person either...
My mom had a pet bull when she was a kid. She'd had it since it was born. As it grew older she was the only one who could approach it. Well, her dad (my grandfather) was out in the field one afternoon and the bull charged him, threw him over the fence...of course my mom was home, only to witness her father shoot her pet bull, she was traumatized by it. (But that bull fed their entire family!)
When I was a kid (3yrs old) my mom had told my brother and I that cats always land on their feet. Well we had a cat who'd just had a litter of kittens and so (you see where this is going?) my brother and I wanted to test that theory. Long story short, one of the kittens didn't survive the fall and I had to go with my mom with a meowing kitty in my lap to the vet and have the kitty put down. At 3 years old! That's something that's sure stuck with me over the years...talk about developing an appreciation for life at a young age!

Yes, a kid lost a cherished pet so therefore someone's religious claims must be correct. The kid repeated what he has been taught, so it must be true.
Of course this god is not shown, the claimed purpose is not shown. What purpose is so important that it justifies breaking the animal's back. Why couldn't that alleged purpose be met without causing the animal such great harm? Just emotional black mail to coerce me to believe their false claims.
On top of that, if I dare not believe because of this video somehow I'm a bad person.
This is why I think science is far more moral than religion. Scientists don't coerce you into believing their claims. You don't see films with children crying, saying "You must believe in quantum mechanics." Scientists simply show their evidence.
** edited to add **
The point of the video is not just about the kid and the calf. It's an attempt to persuade people to believe in a god. The video emphasized certain words to play up the religious aspect. Claiming it's all about the kid is baloney. The kid is just the delivery mechanism.

Makes me cry. Makes me glad Logan can find comfort in the Jesus story. Makes me happy that Logan has Mike to talk to. Makes me think that Logan is intelligent and will continue to ask questions. Makes me hope the "Mikes" in Logan's life will never quash his curiosity. Makes me thank you, SP, for sharing this.
[later] Makes me wonder about all those who are being so nasty about this. Are they afraid of feeling? Of being converted? Something else? I am not a bit ashamed of being touched by Logan's feelings, nor do I feel in the least compelled to convert.
[just this one more thing, then I'll shut up] For pity's sake, ff1100k, what's up with "... if I dare not believe because of this video somehow I'm a bad person." Who in the world said that, besides you?

And you just have to overlook those people with the thoughless replies who didn't care about it. Maybe the Wizard give them a heart.

It's just an animal. There are so many people around the world who die out of hunger and poverty and this? No, this will not make me shed a tear just one bit. But i have to admit, if people will think like that child, i guess the world will be a better place.

the cow was injured from the boys father roping it, if you abuse animals they get hurt & sometimes die.
not really touching, & the sadest part is that the boy will continue in his fathers tradition. now weres the veal?
