From my understanding the birth of the Christian church was the day of Pentecost. Which was after Jesus had ascended to heaven and the Holy Spirit descended and filled the apostles who were at a gathering.

The Council of Nicea, when they made up all the rules and decided what they wanted people to believe. This when they made up the concept of the trinity-never mentioned before. Alot of other concepts were made up here, too.
