Unless the international community agrees to cut carbon emissions by half over the next generation, climate change is likely to cause large-scale human and economic setbacks and irreversible ecological catastrophes, a United Nations report says on Tuesday....

"We could be on the verge of seeing human development reverse for the first time in 30 years," Kevin Watkins, lead author of the report, told Reuters.

Dangerous climate change will be unavoidable if in the next 15 years emissions follow the same trend as the past 15 years, the report says.

To avoid catastrophic impact, the rise in global temperature must be limited to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius). But carbon emissions from cars, power plants and deforestation in Brazil, Indonesia and elsewhere, are twice the level needed to meet that target, the U.N. authors say.

Guess.what ? You won't believe this..But the Christian Community for the most part agree with you.
Many of us believe that Man in his fallen nature, though given charge over the earth has abused it and is destroying it.

One thing is for sure..Global Warming is happening..we are the cause of it...Now I am not so sure that some of the evidence has been exaggerated to support the cause of the left as in the case of Al Gore but I am not like those who are Like Rush Limbaugh who denies all of it is taking place..Now I agree with Limbaugh an many views as I am a Conservative, But on this issue I disagree with him.

I believe that the greedy and covetness of the Oil Tycoons and the Like that have manipulated Our Governments by holding them Hostage with Oil and holding back technologies that would free us from it has caused damage to this planet.

It is the sin nature of man to destroy God's creation , this is being done by the greed of the Auto makers and the Oil Country's

First of all, you must understand that the UN is just a socialistic body, who want to redistribute the wealth of America and to cause a one world government to be implemented. Here are the facts: if you took all of the green house gasses in the atmosphere and called it 100% then took out the 3% directly atributabe to man, and then took out the 4% indirectly atributible to man, you will see that we have not caused Globle warming. In the last 100 years the earths tempriture has risen 1 degree, in the last 10 years the tempture has not increesed, and in the last 3 years the earths tempture has accually decreesed. so where is the warming? We are still colder then it was in the midle of the Dark ages. It is true however, that the sun has been getting hotter, and this, more than anything, has been the major contributor to 'global warming'.

The sun is way overdue for it's 200-300 year hissey fit. So...there isn't any cooling anytime soon. When the sun does this huge storm...it will probably knock out all everything electrical. So...we will be in the dark.

Also...Mount Pinatubo...and Mount Saint Helen's added so much ick to the air...that it overwhelmed the planet. More emissions come from natural sources...that we can't control...than the sum total of all the emissions within the past 50 years. When Krakatoa went off....the world was in a 2 year winter...that caused a economic crash world wide. The sun was not seen for two years!

These are natual happenings. The earth is going through changes...as always...and we have to deal with it.

I wouldn't put too much with the UN. They allowed the Iraq War...and won't make George Bush a war criminal for allowing depleted uranium in the armour piercing weapons. Depleted uranium will kill and continue to kill for thousands of years.

I'm sure my religion wouldn't be surprised by this... being a Heathen. But as I can only speak for myself, I'm not so sure I believe everything written about "Global Warming". I do know it's natural and I'm sure we do have some effect on the earths atmosphere, but how much I can't be sure of... and there are conflicting articles about this. I do see humans waste a lot of things and don't really care what they are doing to the earth as a whole. But want to cry about having to spend more money to clean up the rivers, the land... where do we put our garbage now? ;-)

But, I do know, there are many Pagan organizations that work to help clean up the enviroment and individuals do what we can to help keep from wasting so much. We take far more from the earth than we give back... it's time we slowed down a bit.

I was on board with the environmentalist movement. In the Spring, I did a public arts project on Chicago's waterfront addressing carbon emission (see photo on my blog). I now doubt the very premise of human-caused global warming, while I do agree that the earth is warming. I simply remain skeptical of the science trying to parse human vs. naturally caused changes, if they are even parsed at all, which isn't often. I'd rather call myself a conservationist.

My God tells me to subdue the earth. He also says to take care of it. Global warming is a myth, made up so people who are the fear mongers make money by charging "Carbon Credits"!
Besides, what is the ideal temperature of the earth? 70 degrees Fahrenheit? Give me a break. I suppose humans are at fault for Mars being warmer also.

all i can say is to be prepared to adapt to the changing planet, its unavoidable. people who say that we can reverse climate change are fools. the earth is much a part of us as we are a part of it, climate change is a natural developmental process and we have given it the flu, or cancer. both of those are vastly different yet have a lot in common, we have to help the earth get better and its gonna take a long time and a lot of hard work

I agree with it. But the Earth has warmed up a lot more than they have admitted.
When I was growing up a white Christmas had a 50/50 chance. Now they are lucky if they see snow once a year, around Feb.

Revelation 11:18 last part....that God's kingdom is to destroy them that destroy the earth. The righteous are to inherit it and live accordingly. Psalm 37, Matthew 5:5, 6:10.

We must suffer the consequences of our own actions. If it is in our power to fix things and don't, we will suffer. It is our jobs to look after the planet, as Christians. The first job given to Adam by God was to take care of the animals and the Garden.
