Well not sure if this right, but I have read that stomach grumbles and rumbles are nothing to do with whether you are hungry or not and the noise is actually your stomach muscles contracting and releasing as they digest your food.
It sounds like you have bad indigestion from the sharp pain you described under your chest, which could be stress related or to do with the acid in your stomach. I don't think this is hormones? I would see anther GP.
I had really bad indigestion once and kept on burping literally all the time and this was to do with stress and bad diet.
If you are drinking lots of liquid (especially water) with your meals, this can seriously effect your stomachs ability to digest your food as it turns it into sludge and is more difficult to get break up...this can also make it more acidic.
not sure if any of the above has helped! hope you feel better soon!

The noises from your stomach are called borborygmi, and are due to contractions in your bowel wall called peristalsis, which are designed to move fluid and food along in your gut. They are therefore natural noises, but of course it is a question of degree, and if they are very loud then they can be embarrassing.
The amount of borborygmi is related to the activity of the gut and the amount of gas produced by the bacteria that ferment the food in your gut. This is also related to the bloated feeling and belching.
Certain foods result in the creation of more gas than others, and baked beans are famous for this effect. Any high fibre and high carbohydrate (sugary or starchy) foods can aggravate flatulence (wind) and stomach rumblings, so it will be worth looking at your diet to see if you can modify your diet to reduce these sorts of food.
You do not say if you get pain, but you do mention diarrhoea. If you get increased flatulence and pain and diarrhoea at times, then it is possible you may have irritable bowel syndrome. In this condition, there are excessive spasms of the gut, and there is disordered bowel function as well as increased flatulence. You would need to discuss this possibility with your doctor if you think you might fit into this symptom complex.
I see you have tried charcoal tablets, but there are other over-the-counter medicines you could try. Colpermin and Mintec are peppermint-containing treatments that can reduce gut irritability and spasm, and Colofac is an antispasmodic that can help reduce the bowel spasms.
If none of these things help, or your bowel habit continues to be disturbed, then you should go and discuss it with your GP. But do try changing your diet first, as this is most likely to be the answer.

It sounds like your body may be reacting to something you're eating or drinking. If you suffer like this every day, start by thinking about foods that you eat all the time. I found that when I eat a lot of bread, I get some of the symptoms you describe. Try cutting down on the foods you eat most often so you aren't having them every day, and see if you can spot any patterns. You could try keeping a food diary to keep track of it more easily. Include details both of your food and your symptoms.
If you do find a food that seems to be causing it, go back to your doctor before cutting it completely out of your diet - take your food diary with you to show him. They can advise you to ensure that you aren't missing out on any essential nutrients.
