I have been trying to get copies of footage possibly copied by public cameras on a nyc street last monday. I've been trying since last week, but the holidays and my inexperience in this has gotten me no where. I can't even find a lawyer to get these tapes for me. Is it too late for me to get the footage?

Also, if anyone knows of the kind of lawyer I would need to get this that'd be great as I'm not having any luck finding someone that will do this little thing of getting me a copy of these tapes.

The key here is NO ONE is going to give you those tapes without a subpoena. If it is for a criminal matter in which you are the victim, contact the DA (or the police if you have not already made a report). If you are accused, find a lawyer NOW. tell him about the tapes right away.

Talk to the district counsel man/woman. Each district has an elected official who represents the voters. Try contacting them they might help.

Or you can go directly to the source and appeal to them. Some may be willing to sell you a copy. Look up the source of the camera and google them you may get an address and a phone number.
