Do men normally say to women that they are smart (the women) as a means of sweet talking?

This is the compliment I receive so frequently that I am beginning to think it is just something that men have to say.

Note: I am smart, tho.

Lo, I have the IQ almost of a genius (almost, almost....). Still I find it strange.

We guys don't usually compliment a woman on her brains, because we know that women would rather be complimented on their looks (seriously). If you are getting this compliment a lot, it is likely to be sincerely meant, but remember every compliment, sincere or otherwise, is sweet talk, just like being told often that you are pretty is definitely sweet talk, but is also true.

Ok! hear is the deal, we like the forbidden fruit. What we can't or shouldn't have sounds tastier than the food we get every day. When we get that bad boy we feel like have achieved mission impossible and we are on top of the world, we think that that now that we have achieved this we can achieve anything and with this great feeling we decide that we are going to change him. Of course he doesn't change and we get our hearts broken. And that is why girls love jerks. As for getting your female friend to notice you, I could help you with that too. Your female friend takes you for granted because you are always there for her. There is no reason to doubt someone when they say you are smart, Lots of women think they are not very smart, i think it is that an easy way to put down yourself. I get angry at some woman that automatically think they are stupid, and i will correct them with a statement that they are far smarter than they give themselves credit for.

No. That's not a common line with men. Generally men don't want their women to be smarter than they are and would rarely acknowledge it.

I think a smart, attractive woman is an awesome creature!

Basically men know smart women when they see them...
The way they walk, the way they carry themselves and most specially the way they speak and for every words they say...
If not so, for every question they ask...

"generally, guys hate to be out-smarted by woman… but for a guy who has high self – esteem, self worth and self confidence, this won't be a problem."

So when guys say you're smart, you are indeed smart...
