Aliens with properly filed applications for adjustment of status under both sections 245(a) and 245(i) of the Act will be considered aliens present in the United States under a period of stay authorized by the Attorney General.

This means that you may attend school part-time or not at all, as you choose. You are covered until a decision is made on your 245 application.

Section 245(a) The status of an alien who was inspected and admitted or paroled into the United States or the status of any other alien having an approved petition for classification as a VAWA self-petitioner may be adjusted by the Attorney General, in his discretion and under such regulations as he may prescribe, to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence if

(1) the alien makes an application for such adjustment,

(2) the alien is eligible to receive an immigrant visa and is admissible to the United States for permanent residence, and

(3) an immigrant visa is immediately available to him at the time his application is filed.

As long as you have Receipt Notice of your applications from USCIS, you are status is Pending AOS. If you do have those I-797 notice, then you don't need to maintain F-1 status. You can work with the approval of I-765 which will give you EAD Card. Regarding the tuition while your AOS is pending, you need to consult with school enrollment. It varies from school to school whether you have to pay International rate or In-state rate. Good luck.
