We're not really sure what to do anymore. He hasnt been holding his food down since friday so there is no food on his stomach lining. Just tried to give him his tea and he threw that up. He has had medicine for his chesty cough although he probably took it on an empty stomach, as he is refusing gos food and only eating two spoonfuls of it. He is 5.

Should i consult a doctor?

Children can get into a vicious circle of vomiting and not eating. Take him to the doctor. He could get dehydrated if it goes on too long.

You need to take him to the ER or his Dr. They can give him some meds for the nausea. They can also suggest some pedialite to get his electrolites back in order. This has went on to long. Dr.s usually suggest the brat diet banans rice apples and toast. There are even pedia pops that are like popsicles. Please get help for him right away children can lose weigh fast and get dehydrated quickly. If money problems kept you from the Dr. then go to a free clinic or the er,the er can bill you later. I hope he is better soon, take his problem more serious. I think if this were a virus you would have it by now. Good luck

By defination, pancreatitis is just simply inflamation of the pancreaus. In adults, it's not that uncommon, pretty unusual in kids. Patients are really sick for a while, usually put on antibiotics then get better. But often syptoms do return. WebMD is a great web site, full of good information yet written at a lay-person level. As far as her not eating; as long as she has an IV, she is getting everything that she needs. People go months with nothing more and have no ill effects. Kids are pretty tough. Have faith.

After 5 days of vomiting I would recommend the doctor for your little one. The old idea used to be to withold food until symptoms settled but it is now shown clinically that it is not necessary. Make sure you are getting fluids into him, little and often. Even though he is being sick he will keep little bits down. If he cannot even tolerate that then give him ice cubes or ice pops / ice lollies to suck on. He may not want to eat which is fine but if he does, as I said, there is no need to withold food. Starchy foods tend to be better tolerated, things such as pasta, rice, bread etc. Dairy tends to be less well tolerated so keep any cheese, yoghurts etc to a minimum.
The main risk with vomiting is potential dehydration, the signs of this are dry mouth / lips, lethargy, going long spells between passing urine, dark urine. If he is displaying any of these symptoms then you need him seen as soon as possible, contact your GP out of hours service or take him to casualty.
Hope he is soon feeling better

Dont feed him for the rest of today
allow him very small sips of water - one sip every 10 mins until the vomiting stops
then when he is able to drink a little more without vomiting start him on small amounts of bland food ie dry toast, rice, pasta, banana but no milk or butter.

If he is still vomiting tomorrow, see a dr

Is he able to keep down water? If the answer to that is no then you must take him to hospital before he gets severely dehydrated.

If he can keep down water, then add a sppon of glucose powder (can be brought from chemists) and a pinch of salt to the water in order to keep his energy levels up, and take him to the doctors in the morning.

Also, don't feed him anything until he has stopped vomiting for 24 hours, and then start off by feeding him dry toast.

You need to get him to the doctor. He could be dehydrated. And they need to find out if it's a virus or some other problem. Go to the ER if you can't get in to a doctor. This is very important!

Yes do consult a doctor. Vomiting in children continuing for over 2 days can be serious. Sorry to scare you but please do contact a doctor.

Let him fast until he sees a doctor.
