After the paper has been scanned, what do you do if you want to change something on the paper--like the date or you mis-wrote a word and want to retype it then reprint the document, but on the computer, is this possible??? I DON'T want to make corrections on the original then rescan =)

"I DON'T want to make corrections on the original then rescan =)" -Asker (OP).

Yah sure...and I'm Santa Claus.

Whatever...here's how I would change the date on a document or the name of the document author...or ALTER a document. (Note: "forge" information on a document.)

Scan it in as high a resolution as the scanner + computer can handle.

Open the scanned image file in a graphics editing program. (Paint Shop Pro is really good for this...better than Photoshop.)

Copy INDIVIDUAL letters (alphabets) from anywhere on the document and CAREFULLY place them on top of the area where I want to change.

For example: if I wanted to forge the date from May 5, 2007 to April 3, 2006, I'd find the letters "A, p, r, i, etc.." from around the image, and then cut-and-paste them where they're needed."

If you need to make more room (say changing May to February) then you'll need to select and move sections of words or phrases to make room.

The same way you would on a physical document...only difference is that you're cutting and pasting pieces of an electronic image.

Only thing you can do at that point would be to use the OCR functions of the scanner to scan the document as text, but then you would need to reformat the font and all that again.....

Might just be easier to edit the original and print again....

or due to the scan being a actual photo maybe you can use mspaint to make new text and simply put that in the image...

When you scan a document, what your are actually doing is creating an image, or (picture) of that document. If you want to edit a document you need to use OCR (Object Character Recognition). This is a piece of software that should have come along with your scanner. You will need to install and register it before you can use it. But be advised, OCR only deals with text. It you have lines or boxes on the document, OCR can't edit them.

In order to do this you need a program which allows for scanning documents into an editing format. You can't edit documents that are scanned in the normal fashion, all you receive is an image of the document and it is not editable in that format.

There are software programs you can purchase which allows you to scan and edit documents.

These are three different options I located in a Google search, here is the search page I pulled them off of too, just in case you want to look at other options:
