It's natural for kitties to climb trees. I had a cat who loved to climb high buildings, which was a pain, because she forgot how to get back down again.

OH YES! My two 8mth old kitties love to climb trees. When they are playful they will chase each other up and down trees and the sprint down and jump on each other. It is just soo cute!

Some1 once told me domestic cats have a hierarchy based on "height", the higher the cat sits the more dominating is its nature. I don't know if that is true.
I also once had a neighbour whom claimed that an orphan kitten he found in his yard up a tree had taken the tree as a surrogate mother.

Mine is a indoor cat. But, she love to be on the top of cabinets in the kitchen.
